The NFL announced on Tuesday that the week 2 games that were postponed following the tragedy that took place last week will now be played on the weekend of January 5-7 in order to retain a 16-game regular season schedule.
NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue decided on Thursday that the league would cancel the upcoming games that were scheduled for this weekend, and Patriots head coach Bill Belichick will turn his attention from Carolina to the New York Jets who will be coming to Foxboro next Sunday.
Following the tragic events that have taken place in New York City as well as in Washington DC, the NFL released a statement regarding the games for the upcoming weekend.
