Here’s what rookie offensive tackle Caleb Lomu had to say during his session with reporters on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

On with his rookie paycheck, what is the thing that he wanted to do that maybe he couldn’t before that he was able to do:

“It’s a good question. I’m not really a guy who spends too much money. One of the first things I got was just a new golf set. I’m big into golf. Love playing some golf. So I had to get some longer ones. Kind of outgrew my old set. So that was really the big purchase that I’ve made.”

On what the dynamic has been with him and Morgan [Moses]:

“Yeah, he’s been around a ton, and he’s been one of the biggest helps for me, especially coming in, not knowing the playbook just as a rookie. He’s been through it so many years in the league. He knows, what to expect. And he’s been guiding me a lot through, these practices and meetings that we have. He’s been a huge help. And so it’s been awesome to be able to have him and his experience in the room to be able to help me grow as a rookie and to get to the places where I want to be.”

On how his comfort has changed from his first couple of practices at right tackle to where you were. Today was kind of mostly walk-through, jog-through, but to where he is now:

“Yeah, it definitely took some getting used to, just playing left all of college. But just like I’ve said before, it’s just a thing where you’ve got to just get used to, get a few practices in. The first practice was a little, a little weird at first just because I wasn’t very used to it, but I feel very comfortable at tackle right now, so it just feels natural now.”

On what it takes getting used to on the right side compared to the left:

“Just reps. It’s just, being able to get in there. I mean, it just switches, at left tackle you’re striking with your left hand, at right tackle, it’s opposite, you’re striking with your right. Footwork’s just completely opposite too. So it’s just getting used to that, getting lots of reps, before practice, during practice, and also after practice. Just getting down that, the rhythm of your feet, your hand, and feet timing together. Basically it’s just reps, doing it over and over until it feels comfortable to you.”

On the fact [the media] hadn’t talked to him since he signed the deal there, and how important was it to knock that out to be here in time to mini camp:

“Yeah, that was awesome. Being able to sign, be a part of this organization officially, it’s an awesome feeling for sure. And I’m just glad I’m able to, come here, work every day and just to grow as a rookie.”

On the versatility that he was talking about, how much does that include guard, I think I saw you get down inside…

“Yeah, a little bit. It’s just, every position has its difference outside compared to inside. Inside, it just happens a little bit quicker. Everything just happens- they’re right there. Tackle, you’re in more space. You got more time to do everything. So it’s just little things. They’re all very different, but at the end of the day, it’s just playing football and blocking the man.”

On if he has any guys that he studies or follow his game after:

“Yeah, I mean, there’s a ton being here. I’ve watched a lot of Will [Campbell] and Morgan film, and so being able to watch them and watch the teachings that are coached here and see what they do, how it works in the game, that’s been awesome to watch. So those two have been the biggest people that I’ve watched so far. I’m just trying to see what they do, see what works, see what doesn’t work, because they both are very good players. Will just being a rookie last year until now.  You can tell he’s already very comfortable in his spot and a lot of confidence that he has and then Moses just being in the league for a long time. So being able to watch them and practice and work with them every day has been a huge help.”

On how much Drake has been in his ear just as a tutor…

“Yeah. He’s been in my ear a lot, especially when I got drafted, hit me up right away. And then once I got here to the facility, every time I see him, we say, ‘What’s up?’ He offered help whenever I need it. He said, ‘We can sit down whenever and do some work, walk me through some stuff.’ And so it’s been a huge help, he’s just a leader on this team, someone who’s going to lead the offense, lead the team. And so he’s been a huge help to me.”

On if he’s prepared to play multiple positions and during the pre-draft process, if he had knowledge of playing other positions:

“Yeah, for sure. One of the biggest pieces of advice that I learned, coming in as a rookie, is you’re probably not gonna play the same position you played in college. So I came in with the mindset of wherever they need me, wherever they put me, I’m going to work at that position and do what they ask of me. And so that’s what I’ve been doing here. I’ve been switching around a lot, just doing whatever they throw me in. Wherever I go, just go and play. And so it’s also helped a lot with the playbook, understanding each side, left and right side in the playbook, and it just really helps me just know more in-depth of the playbook and what to expect.”

On the feedback the coaches has given him specifically about playing right tackle:

“No, it’s been all just helpful and supportive feedback to me. I’ve made a lot of mistakes. That’s, that’s just natural. And so I make the mistakes, come out here, they coach me out here, and we get into the O-line room and coach me there too. And so it’s been a lot of just teachings to help me get to where I need to be. And just, I mean, they know what they’re doing. They know what I can do better on, and I talk to them about, how I feel and what they think. And so everything’s just super supportive with all the coaches.”

On if he has a book that’s high on his list that he wants to read before things really are …

“A book? That’s a good question. I’m not the biggest, I’m going to be honest, I’m not the biggest book reader. I know my wife is, she loves to read books and I want to.  I actually got this one book, ‘As a Man Thinketh,’ so I haven’t been able to read that yet. I need to take the time to actually sit down and actually read. But I mean, I’m sure there’s lots of books that I would love to enjoy.”

On what it was about that book [that he liked]:

“That book I just heard, I haven’t read it yet, but it’s just ‘As a Man Thinketh,’ – kind of a mindset mentality book. I thought that’d be good for me, coming in as a rookie and being able to just read that and kind of learn about myself more and how I think and how I work and all that. So I’m sure I’ll love it once I actually read it, but as of now, I haven’t.”
