Here’s what Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson had to say as he spoke to reporters on July 24, 2025:
On how it feels to be back out there.
“It feels great being out here with… It’s a lot of new guys out here on our team. So just building that chemistry, getting comfortable with everybody out here and just putting our best foot forward, trying to get some wins under our belt this year.”
On the fact he looks like he’s in tremendous shape and what his offseason was like:
“Kind of the same thing. You guys ask me this every year. You notice that? Kind of the same thing. I think my body is just maturing. I just know what I got to do. It’s a long season, so just making sure my body is ready. So it was just extra conditioning, just a little extra this year.”
On the fact there were a lot of quick passes and what the goal was for this practice:
“Just be good on first down. Positive play on first down. Don’t go backwards, no pre-snap penalties, things like that. We did all right, but we need to, you know, still work to do.”
On the cultural change and the relationship building that’s gone on and how things are different:
“I think every day is different, especially in the NFL. Every day is different, every year is different. So, yeah, of course, it’s a lot of new things going on in here. There are a lot of new faces, a lot of new players, and stuff. So, yeah, just getting that chemistry going with each other, just talking inside meetings, going to dinner, things like that that you mentioned. So, yeah, it’s a great thing.”
On the fact he looks slimmer:
“Yeah, I dropped a couple of pounds.”
On why that is:
“That wasn’t really my goal. It just happened to happen.”
On what excites him about Josh McDaniels and this offense:
“I love Josh. I had him my rookie year. I’m very comfortable with him. I think he’s comfortable with me. He knows my strengths. He knows what I need to work on. And he’s just a great coach. I’m glad to be around him again.”
On the experience of getting together with Drake Maye and his other offensive teammates:
“It was great. Just the guys getting together, like I said a couple of times already, just building that chemistry. That’s a big part of building a football team. It’s having chemistry, just knowing who you’re fighting with next to you, things like that. So I think we got off to a great start doing that.”
On the fact that he mentioned trying to be better about avoiding pre-snap penalties and how that’s gone to this point, and the fact they look like they’ve done well despite a fumbled snap:
“Yeah, but I’m sure you guys listen to Vrabel. The stuff that gets us beat, that’s the stuff that gets us beat. So even if it happens once, that’s too much. ”
On how they’ve picked up McDaniels’ offense, and the fact that he’s got a little bit of a head start because he’s worked with him previously, but how he feels the other guys are handling it:
“I’ll speak on the guys in my room. I think they’re doing a very nice job. They ask questions. They’re always locked in, everybody. So I think they’re doing a great job learning. It’s always going to be steps to it. Josh McDaniels’ offense isn’t easy. So just honing in, just looking at the playbook over and over, they’ll be all right.”
On the fact Drake Maye has said he’s more comfortable this year and if he’s noticed that on and off the field:
“I’ll mean, I’ll let him speak for himself. If he’s feeling more comfortable, that’s what it is. So, yeah, he’s doing a great job out there getting better. So, yeah.”
On the fact they have a lot of pass-catching backs and what that brings to the team when everyone can catch the ball:
“Diversity. Diversity to the offense. We could do everything. I think everybody in that running back room could play on all three downs. So that’s a strength for us.”
