2023 NFL Draft, it’s a crapshoot and a guess.  If I get 7 correct it’s considered a win.

The draft starts tonight at 8:00 and is broadcast live on ESPN and the NFL Network.  Locally NBC Sports Boston will break in around 9:00 as it is getting close to the Patriots’ 14th selection at around 9:45.  WEEI and Sports Hub 98.5 will be broadcasting draft coverage all night.

The 2023 Draft is being held in downtown Kansas City. The draft starts April 27 with Round 1, continues that Friday with Rounds 2 and 3 and finishes the following day with Rounds 4-7. Here are the times and where to watch:

  • Round 1: Thursday, April 27, at 8 p.m. ET (ESPN, ABC, ESPN App, ESPN Radio, ESPN Deportes, NFL Network)
  • Rounds 2-3: Friday, April 28, at 7 p.m. ET (ESPN, ABC, ESPN App, ESPN Radio, ESPN Deportes, NFL Network)
  • Rounds 4-7: Saturday, April 29, at noon ET (ESPN with ABC simulcast, ESPN App, ESPN Radio, ESPN Deportes, NFL Network)

CJ Stroud Horrible Test Score

It came out this week that Ohio St QB CJ Stroud scored 18 of 99 in the S2 Cognitive Test.  This test metric is highly used across the league as a measurement of how the QB processes info.  Alabama QB Bryce Young scored 98 out of 99 and Kentucky QB Will Levis scored 93 of 99.   Stroud is rumored to be dropping on draft boards across the league.  That is one of the reasons I have HOU taking Will Anderson with the second pick and HOU waiting to take a QB at pick #12.

Bijan Robinson RB Texas, could go anywhere from pick #8 ATL to late in Round 1.  I saw a Mock Draft today that had Jahmyr Gibbs RB Alabama, going in the 1st round ahead of Bijan Robinson, who doesn’t get taken until the 2nd round.

Here is my stab at the first round:

1

CAR Bryce Young QB Alabama
2 HOU Wil Anderson EDGE Alabama
3 ARI  Tyree Wilson EDGE Texas Tech
4 IND CJ Stroud QB Ohio State
5 SEA Nolan Smith EDGE Georgia
6 DET  Devin Witherspoon CB Illinois

8 ATL Jalen Carter EDGE Georgia
9 CHI Lukas Van Ness EDGE Iowa
10 PHI  Peter Skoronski OT Northwestern
11 TEN Anthony Richardson QB Florida
12 HOU Will Levis QB Kentucky
13 GB  Myles Murphy EDGE Clemson
14 NE  Broderick Jones OT Georgia
15 NYJ  Paris Johnson OT Ohio State
16 WAS Bijan Robinson RB Texas
17 PIT Joey Porter CB Penn State
18 DET Calijah Clancy DT Pittsburgh
19 TB  Darnell Wright OT Tennessee
20 SEA  Jaxon Smith – Njigba WR Ohio State
21 LAC  Dalton Kincaid TE Utah
22 BAL  Zay Flowers WR Boston College
23 MIN  Deonte Banks CB Maryland
24 JAX  Bryan Breese DT Clemson

About Mark Morse

Merrimack Valley native and lifelong fan of the New England Patriots. My earliest memories of the Patriots were attending as a child with my dad, the off-season practice at Phillips Academy. I was at the Patriots game at Harvard Stadium in 1970 where Bob “Harpo” Gladieux was called out of the stands by the stadium announcer over the PA to play in the game. Analyzing the draft since ESPN first started to televise it in 1980 and former writer for the Lowell Sun Newspaper.
