The New England Patriots were once again on the losing end down in Miami against the Dolphins to open the 2022 season, falling 20-7.
Although the defense played well and kept the Patriots in the game, quarterback Mac Jones and the offense could only generate a lone touchdown from Ty Montgomery in the third quarter.
Notable moments saw offensive tackle Cole Strange become the 25th rookie to earn a start in the season opener under Bill Belichick, and the defense holding the Dolphins rushing attack to 2.8 yards a carry (23 attempts for 65 yards). Additionally, special teams captain Matthew Slater moved into third place all-time in Patriots history with 207 games played, surpassing Julius Adams.
