Tom Brady Closes His Final Chapter with Retirement Announcement
Tim Fuller - USA TODAY Sports
Despite the reports that surfaced over the weekend, it appears Tom Brady wanted to wait until the end of Championship Sunday to make a decision on his future, with the future Hall of Famer letting the world know on Tuesday morning that his time in the league has finally come to an end.
The seven-time Super Bowl Champion made the announcement via Instagram, thanking everyone in the Buccaneers organization including General Manager Jason Licht and head coach Bruce Arians, along with his teammates saying, “I am no longer going to make that competitive commitment anymore” when it came to his playing future in a heartfelt note to everyone.
One thing that has everyone talking is the fact that the no one within the Patriots organization was mentioned in the announcement, although that shouldn’t really come as a surprise. The quarterback was clearly closing the book on his second chapter, after already sharing a similar sentiment when the first chapter ended a couple of years ago when Brady initially left New England.
One would have to guess that when the time comes for him to be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, he’ll most definitely reflect on his time with Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick. But for now, today simply leaves Buccaneers fans feeling disappointed considering how things were before he got there as Brady walks away leaving their future very much in question moving forward.
