Bill Belichick is no stranger when it comes to exploring all his options and it sounds like he hasn’t ruled out moving up in the upcoming draft.
According to Jordan Moore, who worked for Fox 25 here in Boston but now works for Tampa’s Spectrum Bay News 9, the Patriots have called and inquired about a trade with the Falcons, who hold the #4 overall selection.

The biggest mystery down there seems to be whether or not they’ll take a QB with that #4 overall pick, or if they’re planning on bolstering a different position and then addressing the quarterback spot in the later rounds.
The Falcons currently have Matt Ryan as their starter but according to ESPN’s Chris Mortenson, there seems to be a divide in Atlanta between new head coach Aurthur Smith and new GM Terry Fontenot. Smith is apparently behind staying with Ryan, who he believes still has “two or more years left,” while Fontenot would like to select a QB.
The rumors of Atlanta trading back have apparently been going on for a while, so it could have just been a matter of Belichick trying to find out where they were at, while also getting a sense of what it might cost to move up if they do decide they’re willing to consider trading out.
Moore also reports that both Belichick and Josh McDaniels are expected to attend Justin Fields’ final pro day at Ohio State. He also points out that the San Francisco 49ers will be there, with the 49ers still mum on who they plan on taking at #3 overall following their recent trade with the Dolphins.
