Patriots defensive back Stephon Gilmore has disappeared from social media, with both his Instagram and Twitter accounts each appearing to have been deactivated overnight.

The two accounts show offline as of this morning.  Looking at the Google Cache, his Twitter account was showing several retweets and posts as of just a few days ago.  Now, it simply shows, “This account doesn’t exist”, while his Instagram account shows, “Sorry, this page isn’t available.”

Given that Gilmore had been relatively active recently, it makes this situation a little eyebrow-raising.

It’s entirely possible that there could be something going on behind the scenes that he’s displeased about, or it could just be a matter of him wanting to go on a hiatus from the circus that social media can sometimes be.

Either way, considering how last season finished, along with the whispers we’ve heard about his future, it adds another layer to what should be an interesting offseason.

For now, it appears he’ll be off the radar for the foreseeable future and he’s the only one who knows the reason why.

UPDATE – 2/8 5:42pm – Both accounts are back active again.

Gilmore is kind of a mysterious guy. He is under contract for this year. The Patriots should expect him to play for the terms of the deal. If he wants to sit out then that would be his choice.
