Earlier this week, New England Patriots linebacker Brandon Copeland was placed on season-ending injured reserve following a torn pectoral injury.
Copeland signed a one-year contract with the Patriots in March and made four starts in six games this season, recording 12 tackles.
In addition to time on defense, Copeland also saw action on special teams.
Despite his season coming to a premature end, Copeland thanked his supporters one final time before surgery with a tweet on Thursday.
“Surgery tomorrow to install the second bionic arm onto my body has me sweating a bit… Perspective allows me to realize that I am extremely blessed. Please say a prayer for ya boy. Thank you in advance.”

On Tuesday, head coach Bill Belichick praised Copeland for his efforts this season while admitting his loss will be tough to fill.
“Brandon’s done a good job to give us some versatility,” Belichick said. “He’s played for us on all four downs, in the kicking game and some inside linebacker and outside linebacker. So, he’s an experienced player that in our situation will be hard to replace.”
