Over the past two decades, the New England Patriots haven’t been kind to the Buffalo Bills.
Since 2000, Bill Belichick’s Patriots own a dominant 35-5 record against their division rivals from western New York and have won the last eight meetings.
The Buffalo Bills last beat the Patriots in October 2016 when quarterback Tom Brady was serving his suspension.
All that history aside, in 2020 the Bills find themselves leading the AFC East at 5-2, while the Patriots sit in third place at 2-4.
On Sunday, both teams will square off for the first time this season and given the Patriots recent struggles, the “Bills Mafia” is feeling pretty confident their team can finally vanquish past Patriots demons.
On Twitter Friday, Pats fan Fitzy showed off Buffalo’s confidence in the form of a billboard “troll job” that reads “Brady Can’t Save You” in Cam Newton’s trademark font.
Take a look for yourself in the following tweet.
The Bills will look to back up the hype around their young team at 1pm Sunday in Orchard Park, NY but Patriots quarterback Cam Newton intends to put up a fight and remains positive.
“This is a must-win for us, and I’m going to control the things that I can control,” Newton said. “I have two or three more days to prepare and that’s what I plan on doing”
“Listen man, good vibes, good energies, you have to speak things into existence. I refute [that thought],” he said. “My main focus is to play a better version of what I’ve been playing lately — protecting the football. That’s the key to victory.”
So sure, Tom Brady will not be saving the Patriots this Sunday, but Newton may have the last laugh.
