For the first time since news broke of his positive COVID-19 test, New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton took to his Instagram page with some reaction.

Written in his trademark social media font, Newton shared a message with a promise to his fans.

“I will never question God’s reasoning; just will always respond with, ‘yes lord’! I appreciate all the love, support and well wishes. I will take this time to get healthy and self reflect on the other amazing things that I should be grateful for!”

Newton was placed on the Patriots COVID-19 reserve list on Saturday alongside the Kansas City Chiefs’ Jordan Ta’amu, who also tested positive.

The two positive tests forced the NFL to reschedule Sunday’s game between both teams to tonight at Arrowhead Stadium.

According to NFL safety protocol’s, if Newton remains symptomatic, he cannot return until at minimum 10 days have passed since his first symptoms appeared and at least 72 hours have passed since his symptoms last occurred.

If Newton is asymptomatic, he can be reactivated once 10 days have passed since his initial positive test, or after five days have passed since that test and he returns two consecutive negative PCR virus tests separated by 24 hours.

In both cases, Newton has to be cleared by the Patriots head physician prior to returning.

As of this morning, overnight tests on the rest of the Patriots players and staff cameback negative before the flights to Missouri.

Brian Hoyer will start in place of Newton at quarterback.
