Patriots End Brown’s Tenure Amid New Allegations, Release Veteran WR
Jasen Vinlove - USA TODAY Sports
The Patriots may not have known about Antonio Brown’s troubles when they first brought him in, but after learning about new allegations against the receiver Friday, they apparently decided enough was enough.
According to published reports, the Patriots parted ways with Brown Friday afternoon, amid multiple allegations against the former Steelers wideout, with the latest report involving Brown allegedly harassing one of the women in question via text.
At that point, it appears the information the Patriots received was enough to make them decide to cut ties with Brown, who appeared in last week’s contest down in Miami where he caught 4 passes for 56-yards including a touchdown.
The Patriots released a statement, which included, “We appreciate the hard work of many people over the past 11 days, but we feel that it is best to move in a different direction at this time.”
Brown thanked the team in a social media post:

For now, the train here in New England moves on while Brown deals with whatever else may still be yet to come for the embattled receiver.
As for the Patriots, they’re on to the Jets.
