Heading into their week 11 match up with the San Francisco 49ers, the Patriots were seeking a bounce back following the tough loss at home to the Seattle Seahawks.

The early buildup heading into the game was quarterback Tom Brady’s return home to the Bay Area to play an NFL football game for the first time in his career, he was sidelined during a 2008 season visit with an ACL injury.

During pregame warm ups many in the media immediately felt a Patriots Nation vibe in Levi’s Stadium as thousands of fans cheered the local boy Tom Brady as he ran onto the field.

Sounds like a Patriots home game.

Former starting quarterback and Oregon native Drew Bledsoe made the trip south to see his former teammate and catch up with owner Robert Kraft.

Great time with Mr. Kraft yesterday. @drewhouston has great fashion sense as well!! pic.twitter.com/x05TtwSMhj

The game also marked the return of running back Dion Lewis, who’s impact was felt immediately early on in the first quarter.

Welcome back, @DionLewisRB! 33's first catch of the season gives the #Patriots a first down! #NEvsSF

Some fans even cried for joy.

My 6 year old son was legit SOBBING when he saw his fav player @DionLewisRB in the game #PureJoy pic.twitter.com/PdcfgaEzXq

The Patriots got on the board first, with a little Northern California flavor as San Mateo’s Brady passed to Redwood City’s Julian Edelman for the touchdown.

12 to 11. TOUCHDOWN. #NEvsSF https://t.co/d0EWILPhSo

Two Bay Area natives combine for Patriots first touchdown. Perfect toe-tap by Edelman.

— Mike Petraglia (@Trags) November 20, 2016

The fun didn’t last long, kicker Stephen Gostkowski missed his third extra point of the season, on a day in which an NFL record 12 were missed throughout the league.

Stephen Gostkowski has missed three extra points this season. He missed three field goals all of last year.

With the majority of the first half dealing with sluggish, rainy conditions, running back LeGarrette Blount had one of his biggest bursts into the open field of the season.

James White helped create this catch and run leading to Brady’s second touchdown pass of the game. 13-3 Patriots into the second quarter.

The game remained surprisingly close into the fourth quarter with the Patriots struggling on offense in the rain and the Niners cutting the deficit to 13-10 following a Colin Kaepernick touchdown pass to Vance McDonald. The third quarter saw no scores.

To open the fourth, Brady drove the Patriots down the field and pulled off one of his more remarkable escapes from pressure leading to this Danny Amendola score. 20-10 Patriots.

Brady escapes the rush and finds @DannyAmendola in the end zone! #NEvsSF https://t.co/P0DdARkl6b

— New England Patriots (@Patriots) November 20, 2016

That was one of the cooler touchdowns that Tom Brady's ever thrown.

— Michael Hurley (@michaelFhurley) November 20, 2016

Brady wouldn’t be denied a victory in his hometown, following up that touchdown with his longest of the season at 56 yards to rookie Malcolm Mitchell, not a bad first career touchdown pass. 27-10 Patriots with 10 minutes to go.

Tom Brady's 4th TD of the day. @money_mitch26's first TD of his career. #NEvsSF https://t.co/nBGTVOXpFy

Malcolm Mitchell! pic.twitter.com/Jq7l3rG1rt

— Bryce Dixon (@dixonbryce) November 21, 2016

That 56yd TD pass to Mitchell is the longest passing TD of the season. Passes Gronk & Hogan's 53yd scoring TDs vs Buffalo in Week 8.

— PatsFans.com (@PatsFans) November 20, 2016

Malcolm Mitchell had seven catches for 95 yards on the year heading in. He finished Sunday with four catches for 98 yards and his first TD.

— Oliver Thomas (@OliverBThomas) November 21, 2016

The Patriots would tack on a 38 yard Gostkowski field goal and the Niners would snatch a garbage time touchdown but the Patriots come out on top 30-17, moving to 8-2 on the season.

The rain gave way to this rainbow adding to what was a memorable homecoming for Tom Brady.
