On Tuesday afternoon the Westgate Las Vegas Superbook released their advanced betting lines, also known as look-ahead lines. These early lines give some clairvoyant types an opportunity to roll the dice on games still a week and a half away. There are times when public reaction to the most recent game clouds reality, and and for a moment one can exploit an overrated or underrated team.

Of the fifteen Week 4 games (Green Bay and Philadelphia have a bye), all but one have early odds. The lone exception is the Patriots at Bills with no advanced line, due to the uncertainty with New England’s starting quarterback.

Here are the early advanced betting lines for NFL Week Four.

Thursday September 29:

Miami Dolphins at Cincinnati Bengals (-6½)

Sunday October 2 Early Games:

Indianapolis Colts (-2½) vs Jacksonville Jaguars (9:30 am ET, from London)

Cleveland Browns at Washington Redskins (-8½)

Buffalo Bills at New England Patriots (No Line)

Seattle Seahawks (-2½) at New York Jets

Carolina Panthers (-4) at Atlanta Falcons

Detroit Lions (-3) at Chicago Bears

Tennessee Titans at Houston Texans (-6)

Oakland Raiders at Baltimore Ravens (-5)

Sunday October 2 Late Games:

Denver Broncos (-1½) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Dallas Cowboys (-3) at San Francisco 49ers

New Orleans Saints at San Diego Chargers (-3)

Los Angeles Rams at Arizona Cardinals (-10½)

Kansas City Chiefs at Pittsburgh Steelers (-6; Sunday Night Football)

Monday October 3:

New York Giants at Minnesota Vikings (-3)

There were a handful of game odds that jumped out to me.

Seattle has scored only 15 points in two weeks, squeaking by the Dolphins at home before registering just a field goal in a loss to the Rams. The Seahawks will have to travel across three time zones to play an early game, and that is never an easy task. While the Jet defense may not have shown much in the first two games, they have the talent to shut down a Seattle offense that has stumbled thus far with a completely revamped offensive line still searching for effective synergy.

Colts at Jaguars is an interesting extra-early game. Indy has looked horrible so far in a season that they were supposed to rebound with a healthy Andrew Luck. Jacksonville was the trendy pre-season team anticipated to make a big breakthrough this season, but after two games the Jags have the worst point differential (-28) in the league.

Washington is 0-2 and their -26 point differential is right behind Jacksonville’s, yet they are an 8½-point favorite. Granted they are at home and playing the hot mess known as the Cleveland Browns, but at first glance that seems as if it may be a bit too high – especially if Josh McCown is able to play.
