Another quiet morning on this Tuesday, but here are some news and notes for today’s edition.

Welker Talks About Gronk’s ‘Easy Button’ – Former Patriots receiver Wes Welker had a chance to play with Rob Gronkowski during his time in New England and he was asked about “the Gronkiest thing” he’d ever seen Gronkowski do during an appearance on “Fox Sports Live” last month.

MassLive.com’s Nick O’Malley spotted the interview and Welker talked about a moment in practice that left Bill Belichick a little confused.

“I think it was funny, during practice, he had an easy button,” said Welker via MassLive.com.  “You know, like Home Depot, or whatever, something like that? Someone sent sent him on. Staples, yeah. So, he put it underneath the goal post during practice. He sat there and caught a touchdown. And then he’s like jumping up and down, he’s so excited. And he goes underneath there and starts pressing the button, sitting there jumping around.

“And then as he’s going he goes and hands it to coach Belichick. And coach Belichick’s like ‘What the hell are you doing giving that to me?’ And all of a sudden he just drops it on the ground.”

That sounds like him.  He’s definitely a character, and one the Patriots are obviously lucky to have.

Edelman Set to Educate the Ladies in October – Julian Edelman is a good-looking guy, and for any women out there (21 or older) who would like to spend some time enjoying having him as a teacher, he’ll be holding a football clinic in October at Gillette Stadium.

According to the Boston Globe, the event is scheduled for Oct. 3 from 7:30pm-10:00pm, starting at a modest $159 and $199, with the latter including the class to learn football basics, as well as a group photo with the veteran receiver, an autograph, and a beer, wine or signature “Mint Julian” cocktail.  There are also additional VIP packages that can be purchased at a higher-cost that include access to a private party in a stadium suite with a chance to spend some one-on-one time with Edelman.

Not to be outdone is Rob Gronkowski, who will be on hand and for a mere $2,395-$2,995, those willing to spend that higher price-tag gets a ride with the tight end to the clinic.

The clinic will be held one day after the Patriots face the Buffalo Bills at Gillette Stadium, which is the final of a three-game home stretch for New England leading up to a Week 5 battle against the Browns.  If Tom Brady is suspended to start the season, that would potentially be the week leading up to his first start of the year out in Cleveland.

Ladies out there can learn about the game from one of the best this October.

Former Patriots Easley on Speculation on his Release: “It’s all rumors” – The release of Dominique Easley was obviously a big topic of conversation after the Patriots surprised everyone by letting him go earlier this offseason.  It caught everyone off guard, and the subsequent rumors about him only added fuel to the fire as many wondered why Bill Belichick and the front office were willing to part ways with a player who showed glimpses of promise in their defense.

He was called by a “locker room cancer” by a former teammate, which was reported by the Boston Globe, while CSNNE’s Tom Curran claimed there were “philosophical differences” that played a part in his release.  No names were mentioned, and that’s apparently something that’s still bugging Easley, who made his feelings known during an interview on Sirius XM NFL Radio.

“There’s been, obviously, stuff said about me,” Easley said via CSNNE.com. “We don’t know where it came from. I would say the person doesn’t want to come out and say it, neither.”

“As far as I know, it’s all rumors until that person comes out and say that it was from them, and they can prove that they actually know who I am, or been around me long enough to know who I am and how I am as a person.”

Andruzzi Sets Fundraising Record – For anyone who remembers former Patriots offensive lineman Joe Andruzzi, it’s been great seeing him have success off the field in his efforts in the community.

Andruzzi, who won three championships during his time with the Patriots and is also a cancer survivor, hosted the eighth annual Joe Andruzzi & Friends Golf Tournament with his wife Jen, and the two had a successful outing to say the least.

The tournament raised a record amount of money, with the Boston Globe reporting that it was over $300,000 for his foundation.

There were some Patriots on hand to help with the endeavor, including Rob Ninkovich, Bryan Stork, Matthew Slater, as well as running backs coach Ivan Fears.

Mass Native and Blazers’ Star Suggests Pats Should Draft Him – Portland Trailblazers guard Pat Connaughton is getting his feet wet in the NBA, but basketball wasn’t the only sport he was good at during his high school days.

The former standout at St. John’s prep in Massachusetts fielded scholarship offers in both basketball and baseball, with the Arlington, MA native making a name for himself as a pitcher as well as for his skills on the hardwood.

He played both sports at Notre Dame, before ultimately pursuing his NBA aspirations after helping lead the Fighting Irish to its first ACC Championship in 2015.  He had a shot at playing professional baseball, with the Baltimore orioles selecting him in the fourth round of the 2014 MLB Draft, taking him with the 121st overall selection.

He did play quarterback in high school and he decided to show off his strong right arm over the weekend, putting up a post on Twitter to let his hometown team catch a glimpse of what he might be able to do on the gridiron at the pro level.

Connaughton chucked a football 80-yards down field in a perfect spiral, jokingly Tweeting to the Patriots that he’s available if they’d like to consider him in the #NFLDraft2017.

The kid definitely has skills, but it’s safe to say, at least for a few more years, that job is probably taken.
