On Tuesday, the New England Patriots formally announced via the NFL transaction wire that they released former Wisconsin Badger star, running back Montee Ball. The roster move comes just days after the news he was arrested in Madison, Wisconsin this past Friday for a domestic violence incident where he was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and misdemeanor battery at a hotel in the city with his girlfriend per an ESPN report. Ball spent the weekend in jail and was released Monday.
Ball never saw playing time with the Patriots but was a member of the practice squad since signing in early December 2015. He last saw starting action with the Denver Broncos in 2013 before being released in 2014.
Per the official NFL transaction wire, the #Patriots have waived RB Montee Ball.
