According to news first broken by Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports, the NFL announced today that Commissioner Roger Goodell will not be in attendance opening night when “newly-freed” Quarterback Tom Brady and the Patriots take on the Pittsburgh Steelers.

This marks the first time in his tenure as Commissioner that Goodell will miss the first game of the season.

Goodell was quoted as saying he “believes the focus should be on the game and festivities” and it is reported he will likely attend another teams opener over the weekend which is still unknown.

This morning Judge Richard Berman ruled in the favor of Brady and the NFL players association thereby clearing the four game suspension handed down by Goodell.

One can still expect many creative chants throughout the night by the Foxboro faithful.
