Report: James Develin Suffers Broken Tibia Friday Night
Bruce Kluckhohn - USA TODAY Sports
New England Patriots fullback, James Develin, was carted off the field in the fourth quarter during the 17-16 victory against the Carolina Panthers.
Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston and several other media members reported early Saturday morning Develin will have surgery in Charlotte after suffering “a clean break” to his right tibia. The expected recovery time is 6-8 weeks.
Develin was considered a lock to make the roster, establishing a role in the offense and in the power-run game.
Despite his recovery time, it’s hard to imagine the team floats him on the 53-man roster until he’s able to return. Considering he’s the only true fullback on New England’s current roster, Bill Belichick might have to look elsewhere if he wants to find a replacement.
Something to keep in mind as the first roster cuts are just days away.
