Re: Breer on Stallworth vs. Maroney
haha, I just read Reiss' version too, that is hilarious.
FOXBOROUGH –- Humorous and playful moment after practice today, as running back Laurence Maroney listened in on an interview being held by receiver Donte’ Stallworth.
Before long, the two were joking with each other, going back and forth around a handful of reporters, with the Madden video game -- released today -- a hot topic:
Maroney: “He thinks he’s faster than everybody.”
Stallworth: “What did you come and tell me this morning about the video game, Madden? They have you at a 91 speed.”
Maroney: “Me and Madden are going to have to have a meeting. They have to get me right. There is no way in the world his speed should be on 97.”
Stallworth: “I’ve been on 97 since I’ve been in the league. I’m 26, this is my sixth year. You’re a second-year guy.”
Maroney: “What does that mean? I’m young and fast.”
Reporter: “Maybe you should have a race.”
Maroney: “I don’t want him to pull his hamstring [laughter].”
Reporter: “What are you expecting Madden to do?”
Maroney: “At least a 95.”
Stallworth: “You know how many guys are 95 and over on that video game? Not many.”
Maroney: “Madden must not have watched you for a while. Not since you’ve been with us. Unless you did some things with the Eagles I didn’t see, I haven’t seen 95 or 97 out here today. Have you all? Be honest, you’re all the reporters. Keep it real and uncut [laughter].”
Reporter: “Who is the better player?”
Stallworth: “He is.”
Maroney: “He is. I love his game. He brings a little different thing. He’s one of those big-play guys I look at who can hopefully open things up for me with the rest of the receiving corps and the rest of the team.”
Reporter: “What does Maroney bring to the table?”
Stallworth: “A red jersey [laughter]. No, Laurence is a hard worker, man. He’s going to run real hard. He gets to that outside, it’s over for a lot of guys. If I was out there playing defense, I’d have to run him down.”
