As an ND fan, this is how I feel about Mayer as well. I think he'll actually prove to be slightly more dynamic in the NFL where he can't always be the focal point of a defense because he has some weapons around him.
He's not Gronk but he's the closest to Gronk in an all-around capacity that...
I've watched every ND snap multiple times this year and Patterson has multiple year starter as a floor. Just doesn't have a super high ceiling in my opinion. He's got the athleticism and size you look for but I'm not sure about his footwork while engaged and he has had trouble getting underneath...
Patterson has great size for a center and can shift to guard if need be. Some value in the middle rounds. The same caveat applies as it does with all ND players: For whatever reason, the Patriots have drafted zero ND players since 2008. Maybe that's a coincidence, but ND has had a lot of players...
His athleticism isn't elite, which certainly limits his upside, and his motor is extremely inconsistent. I really like what I saw from his linemate Devonte Wyatt. That kid has elite athleticism and motor, but he really lacks ideal length.
With that said, it's just one game against an elite...
I think that most people have different aspects of their personalities that they compartmentalize. I don't think anyone really exists on a dichotomy of good and bad.
I personally love Davis. I really have a soft spot for guys like him. He can play the 0, 1, 5 or 3 tech if you need him to. Obviously he's a 0 or 1 tech 80-85% of his snaps, but you can move him around strategically.
He's an absolute beast and the athleticism is obviously off the charts. He...
Level of competition comes into play here as well. Tavon showed up against Power Five level athletes on defense. It's obviously not his fault, but Calvin hasn't seen that by nature of the school he plays for. Tavon also has some slot skills that Calvin lacks and has some more versatility with...
Yeah anything under 180-185 is a bit scary and Austin isn't a guy who's great at avoiding hits. Not sure he's shifty enough but he does some specific things well, like attack the seam from the slot. Late rounder but can move up to 3rd round if he runs a sub-4.4, which is very possible.
If an offense has twins left and moves a receiver to the other side of the ball, safeties will roll toward the strong side and box players on newly weak side will adjust their positioning based on coverage priorities changing.
You'll often see motion away from an unbalanced line in the running...
