He still lines up 70% of the time in the slot so it's pretty clear he's a slot receiver. Its like saying RG3 isn't a qb because he doesn't pass as much as Brady.
Welkers 2010 season was comparable to his years at Miami. Last year there was a clear drop off in his play after Gronk was done.
Amendola has had as many good games as the offense has which is 2. Unlike Welker, Amendola has the ability to beat great cornerbacks deep on occasion.

This guy named Gronk. Amendola will have plenty of catches and yards once everything is in full force. You already saw it against Pittsburgh. 2 wide open catches and 1 nice catch. That basically sums up Welkers entire career in NE.
