Eliot Wolf's Pre-Draft Press Conference (Scheduled for 4/18 - 10AM)

If he's speaking the truth, it's saying that Penix or Nix are on the same level as Maye-Daniels-McCarthy. But at this point, GM's rarely speak the truth.
I honestly hope that he wasn't speaking the truth in his assessment. Because if he truly believes that Penix and Nix are on the same level as the other three, then we're totally screwed.

Just thought of a funny concept too, where the Pats trade down from 3 to 6 with the Giants in exchange for pick 47 and a 2025 2nd rounder, the Giants take Maye, and then at the 6th pick instead of taking McCarthy, they trade down again with Minnesota and send 6 and 103 in exchange for picks 11 and 23. They'd then have picks 11, 23, 34, 47 and 68, which are five high picks right in the meatiest part of the draft, and also an extra 2nd next year.
If he's sincere about liking 6 quarterbacks, then this would make a lot of sense (assuming the other teams are intent on Maye and McCarthy).

We could certainly fix WR OL and draft one of Nix or Pennix.
I guess it’s about what our staff thinks of these QBs.
Isn’t it weird we’ve shown little to no interest in Nix?
There's been little buzz about Nix in general during the pre-draft process as far as I have seen.

They could really do some damage with that scenario.

Did you read what Polian said? We get about 45% of what data is available. We are almost guaranteed that one of the top three, if not more, will bust. Penix or Nix could be "the guy", just because the draftnik guys aren't saying so, doesn't mean it's cast in stone.

True, though the Penix stuff has emerged kind of late in the process. Nix could be a late addition as well.

I’m still holding on hope for Harrison JR, or Nabors with a Nix or Rattler.

On the one hand, it wasn't the current Giants staff that picked Daniel Jones, but it is the current Giants staff who signed him to a big contract, so they are not actually experts in figuring out what should be done. They are the type of people you take advantage of.

That being said, the Patriots have no track record here either. If the Giants trade up and land Maye and he becomes a Josh Allen type, while JJ McCarthy flubs, good luck telling your fans that you did it for a 2nd rounder and a future 2nd.
This is a great point. At this point all this gamesmanship seems like getting too cute.

If you think there’s a franchise QB there, take him at 3. Period. If you don’t, trade back and try again some other time. This settling for 2nd tier QBs idea when QB is your biggest need just to pick up a couple picks that will are likely to crap out is driving me nuts.

You’re either in on the QBs or you’re not. I have very little interest in these 2nd tier guys.

Yup!

I grew up a dedicated Sox fan.

Now I can’t even tell you who is on the team or how you are doing.
Same. You'd think for all that they did, I'd be a fan for life. They've alienated me, bad. I am not saying the pats are going to do that, but Kraft playing spin doctor is just meh.

Our QB whisperers are going to earn their money.

I hope McAdoo feels as strongly about the one who is there at #3, as he reportedly did about Mahomes.

What if they like one of the second tier guys better than the top tier guys? Pick him at 3 or try to pick up an extra pick or two?

If our QB whispers really feel like one of the second tier guys is the next great QB, there will be others with the same evaluation.

Yeah, that's my thinking, too. Don't risk it. Take the guy you like at 3 and be accused of reaching. If he pans out, no one will care in a year or two how early he was picked.

If they feel that strongly about one of the second tier guys, should they really going to risk losing out on them to pick up extra picks?

I know there’s gamesmanship with playing the board but the QB need is too dire, too important, to play games with it.

this is a new regime and they’re in their honeymoon period but it’ll change QUICK if they play around and miss out on a QB while being stuck in QB purgatory.
