Chiefs are officially the new us.

At least Mahomes isn't as insufferable as other GOAT contenders like Aaron Rodgers or Peyton Manning. I don't have an issue with Mahomes (for now).

Not a fan of Kelce.
His family does it for him.......

Purdy is a great story but has benefitted off a tremendous team and a lot of offensive weapons…..McCaffrey is an offense by himself practically. Put Purdy on the Pats this year and he wouldn’t have fared much better than Mac or Zappe. He does a good job in game manager mode behind a great team (reminds me of Alex Smith a bit)…..
Purdy also benefited from being put into the best situation since Roethlisberger ( solid defense, great o line, lots of weapons).

This Superbowl is the perfect example (as if we needed it) as to why you dont want a game manager at QB ..and you want a killer at QB (not the #81 but the on the playing field type).

Pick a QB at 3 please.
My god this ^^^
honestly, with the Mac Jones trade rumors the last days or so, I think it’s a done deal for a QB at 3

My big takeaway from the game is I truly don’t care about football in any incarnation anymore. And I was impressed by Brock Purdy. Where di they find that guy?
I understand what you mean. I care about the Pats because I have been in the habit of doing so since the 70's. I am interested in the rebuild post Brady/Belichick. Beyond that, I don't care that much about the league as a whole. Part of it is that too many of the players are people I just can't root for. . Part of it is my conviction that there is no truth left at all in the notion that "sports builds character." Part of it is the effect of gambling-centric coverage of the game. The first two are probably most responsible for my declining interest. I haven't paid any attention at all to the NBA for 20 years. I can't enjoy watching a bunch of malignant narcissists bounce a ball around. I may soon grow tired of watching others of the same ilk collide with one another.

Frustrating game to watch unless you are a KC homer. Both D’s played well overall. SF moved the ball well on O in the first and should have been up by much more at half…Mahomes did nothing in first half and was held in check most of the game. Second half Shanahans bumbling coaching decisions, purdy’s inexperience and the muffed punt majorly changed the momentum and chiefs escaped with a W. Reminds me of both our SB against Gints….maddening because we couldn’t move the ball and watched them get break after break….But yes hats off to the chiefs….they got it done while SF choked ….and Chiefs are the team to beat going forward until some team proves otherwise
I thought Purdy played far better than Jimmy in their previous Super Bowl. He wasn’t perfect, but he gave them enough to win the game.

Their offensive line was why they couldn’t close out the game. There were far too many plays where the play had no chance from the start, due to the KC pass rush arriving so quickly.

Didn’t read the whole thread but huge shoutout to Spagnola. Reid was smart to hire that guy. Without that defense, no way they win that game.

Purdy isn’t good enough.
Not sure how people read this from the game. I think KC’s defense was just that good, and the offensive line for SF was that bad.

It was nearly impossible to do much more than what he did during that game. The blocking just wasn’t there on a lot of plays.

There’s just extremely few players like Mahomes that elevate their teams enough to overcome these major flaws. I think we take that for granted, we forget how few QB’s can do what he does.

Ironically enough, the 49ers had a chance to draft Mahomes. Instead they drafted a bust.

As long as the NFC keeps producing these "lesser" QB's, and KC makes the SB, they are going to win the majority of those games. There is no Rodgers, Brees, or even a Matt Ryan type in that conference anymore.

Him and Brady might be the only ones.

Montana always had elite weapons.

The career Mahomes is having is the career Rodgers was supposed to have.

Lol 49ers don't have a great Oline at all. Just Trent Williams

Rodgers and Peyton lol he already left Peyton in the dust too

Now I finally understand why Tom waited so long to retire. Patrick is coming like a speeding 18 wheeler on a 15 mph school zone.

Definitely.

He has more playoff wins in 6 years starting than Manning had in 18 years.

The only way I see him not winning as many SB's going forward is if the Chargers become a juggernaut, unlikely, and Buffalo gets a complete team. Cincinnati needs to improve too. Denver may have to consider trading up for Caleb Williams to compete in that division.

But idk anymore. Everyone said he never had to play on the road. Yet, he won in two hostile environments. With an overall inferior team to Baltimore.

Like I’m trying to think who else hasn’t come up short at this stage. Burrow did for the exact same reasons against the Rams two years ago. Josh Allen and Lamar have repeatedly come up small in these moments. Goes to show you how very few guys have been able to knock off Brady/Mahomes.

They’re half of us / one of our two decades. 50% is still easily failing
Gronk hit the nail on the head when he said that the real test for Patrick Mahomes vs Brady is being able to win with a new set of players. That said, Mahomes is the real deal who can do it all. His targeted runs late in games are killers. Not only does he make key plays, it completely rattles the defense in the process.

That SB win over Mahomes MAY be what keeps him as the GOAT.

But Mahomes isn't just winning SB titles. He is winning MVP's too.

The rest of their OL is quite horrible. No one else grades to the level of average.

You need to resign your true MVP Chris Jones
He saved you guys in the Bills game when he wrecked that wide open play hitting Allen
And he easily saved 3 touchdowns hitting Purdy last night

Mahomes will have to prove late in his career he can do it with new guys. Reid will be gone likely in the next 3-5 years. Kelce likely even sooner.

They may lose Chris Jones this year.

Let see if he can keep this up.

At some point Reid and Kelce won’t be there anymore.

Give all the credit in the world to Mahomes. I’ve only seen one other player like him and it’s Tom Brady.

As Pats fans it’s ****ing lame not to respect greatness when you see it.
I’d respect greatness if it didn’t feel he also gets helped so ****ing much and then also having it rammed down my throat. I don’t remember Brady getting such poster boy treatment, if anything he had to fight against the league to become the greatest ever.

That’s what irks me rather than someone else doing it. I don’t mind them earning it the whole way and deservedly surpassing pats/Brady records in that way.
