In the last two super bowls, the team rallied around Brady due to “deflategate.” This year, so far Goodell has not manufactured any fake scandals against us. I am hoping that with all the media criticism about Brady being “finished” the team will once again circle the wagons. Not only the team but Brady himself has ALWAYS played with a chip on his shoulder. They need something to get them going and the media may have helped. Here is just a sampling of some of the garbage I am seeing this week:

My favorite has to be this -

Let’s hope the Tennessee game was the turning point en route to Lombardi #6.

This is a nice timeline to have handy to feed to the doubters. It might even be signature-worthy:

-------
“Brady hasn’t elevated his individual performance on the field. Instead, he appears to be finally fading”
Cian Fahey, Football Outsiders, December 2013.

“There is little doubt at this point that we are witnessing his [Brady’s] decline”
ESPN’s Sam Monson, 2014 preseason.

“The uncomfortable reality that is a fading Tom Brady. Brady will never win another MVP. He’s never going to play in another Super Bowl in New England. His best days are gone.”
WEEI’s Kurt Minihane, September 2014.

“Pats win Super Bowl? No way, no how. Brady will never make it back to SB.”
FS1’s Rob Parker, September 2014.

Feb 1, 2015, Super Bowl XLIX: Brady, MVP… crickets chirp…

“He [Brady] is going to fall off a cliff. Tom Brady is going to be a bum in short order.”
ESPN’s Max Kellerman, 2016 preseason.

Feb 5, 2017, Super Bowl LI: Brady, MVP… crickets chirp…

“I tried to warn everyone this was coming. Brady MAY have thrown his last TD for Pats”
FS1’s Rob Parker, November 11, 2018.

We don't need the team to rally around Brady. We just need to post all of these hot takes in Brady's locker.

First of all he himself needs to step up and up his level of play. Others will respond to that.

If 2015 taught me one thing, it's that the QB doesn't "have" to do anything to win a championship.

That being said, Von Miller ain't walking through that door.

2000 too....

True. That was a little before my time but everything I know about the 2000 Ravens fits the description. What stuck out to me about the 2015 Broncos was how the QB play was so bad that Peyton was benched for Osweiler, and then Osweiler got benched again for Peyton, and they still won the ****ing Super Bowl. Imagine how despondent their fans must have been right around the time Peyton came back. There's no way they were any more confident than we are now.

Peyton got hurt in 2015. he wasn’t benched if memory serves me correctly.

IIRC he got hurt but didn't regain his job immediately upon getting healthy, only when Brock sucked/got hurt (can't remember which).

In general, everyone needs to up their ah. On both sides of the ball. The unit that needs to get healthier and play better the most, however, is the OL. It all starts right there. They are where the majority of the offense’s problems have stemmed from.

No disagreement. Was not meant as a dig against Brady. I meant it more in the sense that he is the leader of this team and that he can inspire the rest of the team to go to another level.

Oh he got benched.

Otherwise he would have started against the Chargers instead of being sub'd in when it became clear that Osweiler was on the way to **** the bed.

It just seems like this team needs an “us against the world” mentality like 2014 and 2016. Everyone is doubting them.
