In other words: Investigation won't be complete until after the Super Bowl. Until then, the haters will come out in droves.

My god...this isn't the Benghazi hearings. Just to close the loop, send a couple of lackeys to Foxboro, ask some kids if they mucked with the balls and regardless what they say, make it a non issue.

Did it cross anyone else's mind that Goodell is playing a blackmail game over the Jets tampering charges. I know it's not the case but for some reason I can't kill the suspicion.

So how do deflated balls explain Luck having his worst game as a pro? I mean Colts were using their own footballs right?

It doesn't mention him. Says league source.
No it says a league source said it is investigating 'the matter'. Reiss added his OPINION that 'the matter' is suspicion of inapproriate action by the Patriots. 2+2= 123234 at this point.

Here's the skinny on why this won't go away quickly....

#1. It increases fan interest nationally.

#2. More people will watch the game in hopes the Pats lose

#3. It's the perfect subplot for all the arsewipes in the media

You're probably right. Whatever the case is it has been a buzz kill for me as I was pretty pumped after the game. Now not so much.

This has been a bit of a buzz kill.

The reality is if this were made of any other team, it wouldn't be a blip on the radar as is evidence of that Panthers literally heating the balls.

But unfortunately it is not any other team, and given that it will garner more clicks on the internet and social media than an ebola outbreak, I understand why people are covering it.

What really bothers me is Belichick not coming out and unequivocally denying it.

Same old crap we got with spy gate.

“We’ll cooperate fully with whatever the league wants us to — whatever questions they ask us, whatever they want us to do.”

No sh!t you are going to do whatever the league says. That wasn't the question.

And then this

Questions: Were the Patriots using deflated footballs?

Answer “I just said, the first time I heard about it was this morning. Whatever they need from the league, that’s what we’ll do.”

Yes, you first heard about the league looking into it this morning. Again that wasn't the question.

At the end of they day I don't think there is anything different going on with the pats then any other team.

Hell on my local sports show they interiewed a former college coach who said he told his equipment folks if those balls (the throwing ones) were inflated one fraction of an ounce over 12.5 they were fired. And on a good day they were probably 12.

But I was looking forward to a couple weeks of watching nil network and going over the match ups and x's and o's.

Looks like another media blackout for me till the Super Bowl.

Agree 100%. It would be nice if the media could ask a good follow-up question or if Belichick could, ya know, answer the question asked. The fact that he is not unequivocally denying it is very troubling.

To any visiting non-Patriots fans that may stroll into this thread....

We won't be humble about this issue and we truly don't care what you think.

We're on to the super bowl and no one can do anything about it....end of story!

And if you're here to troll, we'll take you into the back corner of this forum and beat you....many have gone in that corner never to be seen again

What about the possibility that the Patriots think it is better that BB not comment one way or the other?

Ok you are justifying the last time he blatantly cheated as not cheating, but he did exactly that. It was a means to a win. That's what it was. And it did end up tarnishing his reputation as far as public perception goes.
Wait. You are calling Spygate cheating? Seriously. Wow, this explains a lot.

I'm justifying it too. Except mine is more blunt. It just makes logical sense, imo. There is nothing to lose except some hypocritical fans whining about another team cheating, when they all do it. Perception and image. Something that is already tarnished anyway.

That is the ONLY real thing at stake here. Nothing else. And I don't think BB gives a **** about that. Profits will go up. Wins will get counted. Trophies will be handed out. Players will make more money. There is no legal repercussion. The NFL's own repercussions, aren't severe enough to deter it.

You want to believe he is accidentally and innocently cheating, and making errors in judgments...and I find it easier to believe it's like everything else we know about him, meticulously calculated and carefully planned. He's not a ****ing idiot. He knows what he is doing.
So do you have video of seeing the ball boy stick a needle in the ball?
Can your conviction be overturned when we actually know what happened?

You seriously cannot be a Patriots fan.

I'll even go as far to say if the absolutely worst case scenario comes true, BB is no longer a lock for the hall of fame and quite possibly neither is Brady. Is that something a coach would want to risk?

Dear god.. make it stop.. [emoji31][emoji31][emoji31][emoji31]

But...the balls don't go into the locker room with the team (as far as I know).
I'm not sure if they do or not, I'm just saying if you an opportunity to pull something off, you would grab a couple of deflated balls from the locker room and try to toss them in the bag that had been previously inspected. That's the only way I could see trying to get away with something given the system the league has in place.

This really blows. I was so pumped after yesterday's game, but now we are going to bombarded with this crap for 2 weeks. I really hope this is a big nothing burger. I am a little concerned that BB didn't outright deny any wrong doing. I'm also concerned that its may take awhile before we hear a verdict. You would think if there was no wrong doing something would have been said already.

Don't let it get you down. Its a stupid thing that will amount to nothing and even though we have supposed Pats fans turning on the team, the real ones can focus on the fact THAT WE ARE GOING TO THE MF_ING SB BABY!!!!!!!!!!!

Again, I do not see a head coach with his track record, knowing damn well his reputation and the implications of getting caught again, happily using cheating tactics as just an everyday part of his job.

I'll even go as far to say if the absolutely worst case scenario comes true, BB is no longer a lock for the hall of fame and quite possibly neither is Brady. Is that something a coach would want to risk? Extremely unlikely.

Is BB arrogant? Yes he absolutely is. But as you said he's not a bleeping idiot.

And he isn't. Which it could mean he believes he can get away with it. Sometimes he's wrong though. He got caught last time. But as I said, sometimes he might just be getting targeted. He believes teams do certain things, and the NFL allows them to get away with them, and sometimes he gets targeted.

They will both be in the HOF. Deflating balls isn't worse than Spygate. The people who vote on that know all about the behind the scene cheating that goes on in the NFL. They know about bounties. They know about steroids. They know about all of these issues, that are accepted in NFL lockerooms, that are not accepted in public perception. You don't know if BB believes something like this puts a HOF entry at jeopardy. And I think coaches know what does and what doesn't better than you or I.

I worked in 3 different car dealerships. What goes on in the F&I offices of dealerships is far worse than deflated balls. You are threatened by FBI probes and actual jail time. Yet it's done all the ****ing time, despite real punishment, for a lot less money, for a lot less glory. And the public still buys cars.

Then why aren't Edelman and the other players following the same script?

This thread has officially become as just as embarrassing as the rival fanbases who jump on this **** like it's the greatest thing to ever happen.

What a #%$@&^# eyesore every time I refresh the page

All they are saying is they n=know nothing about it. And the balls felt fine.

If BB comes out and says he categorically denies the balls weren't deflated and then it comes out that one or two was, then what. BB knows a lot of things but I doubt he can recite the exact level of air pressure in every single football at any given time in the game.

I think you need help...seriously
