Re: BB A Football Life on NFl Network Official Thread

I knew it wasn't going to happen but when they showed the front office talking about the Wilfork negotiations I was like WOW this could be great. It wasn't. Really I didn't expect them to go into great detail but if they had it would have been so cool. Also if they had shown the thought process on trading Seymour and the negotiations with the Raiders.....too cool.

I hope part two they show snow-gate and perhaps the stuff with AD and Springs. I doubt they will but I can hope.

It was well done for what it was but to be exceptional I guess it would have to be more than two hours for starters and no team will grant the access necessary for what I'm asking.

Lategate's not covered.

Lategate's not covered.

Thanks, I figured. That's too bad. If you're going to tell the real story of that season it has to be there.

Re: BB A Football Life on NFl Network Official Thread

Can someone PM me a link to watch it please...

Re: BB A Football Life on NFl Network Official Thread

Just got done watching part 1 via a downloaded copy (pm me if you want the link). I was expecting a fair amount of fluff and little substance. But even with my homer glasses off, I came away well impressed. Here are some of the things that struck out for me:

- Brady's voice getting all squeaky when Bill tells him to calm down in game 1 against the Bills. You could tell Brady was nervous (after all, it was his first regular season game after the injury). When Brady says "I threw it (squeak) RIGHT to him"...Bill's pauses for a second, and then stoicly says "It was over his head!". Brady goes "Ohhh, thaaat one (squeak)." That was hilarious!

- Bill's bromance with Ed Reed. You can tell Bill truly appreciates greatness. I'm sure this went down well with Ravens fans

- STFU Mason. This needs no explanation. Major LOLs ensued.

- Bill's presence in team meetings. We've all heard about it. It was something else to actually see it. He had total command and complete attention of all the players. That's a leader right there.

- After the loss to the Donkeys, in his staff meeting, Bill says something like "You take away Randy, beat him down the field, Welker's covered. That's it! We can't pass. We can't run. We're done." I believe this is where Bill may have gotten the very first indication that the rest of the NFL had finally fingured out the Welker/Moss dynamic duo offense, that it wasn't gonna work for too long anymore.

- The Giants stadium bit was touching. I hate the Giants as much as the next pats fan for SBwhateveritwasnyahnyahmmmghmnnxkgfs and it being an NY team. But you saw that Bill's time there was really special to him. I saw him get a lot of kudos at several Giants forums for that part.

- The bit about the Tennessee game brought back some fond memories. When the clock hit 0:00, Bill gives Dante a hug and impassionately says "Well... we did good today" :D

- They didn't spend a lot of time on this, but I was touched by the scenes where Bill's mentoring his son. Kid's lucky to have a father and a teacher like Bill.

- Finally, a couple poignant quotes to end the segment. "You can say a lot of things about me. But you can't say I'm scared. I'm NOT scared to go for it" (followed by a clip of the 4th and 2 against Dolts ). And, "I don't get mad...I get even!"

well said!

The goal wasn't to tell the real story of that season, though. It was to tell the football lifer story of Bill Belichick. They simply had access to more mic'd vignettes from 2009 because Bill had agreed to be mic'd for that season for a different reason. That plan was sold to him by Ed Sabol as something to become the cornerstone around which the inevitable BB HOF documentary would one day be built. As a football historian and admirer of all NFL Films has done to document it, Bill agreed to participate. As far as he knew none of this was to be used while he was still working... But obviously he trusts NFL films not to stab him in the back because it is their track record that they don't. They exist to promote the sport and it's participants... They decided to launch a new series this season, A Football Life, and in possession of this much new unique film on Bill, his life became the logical choice with which to launch it.

Re: BB A Football Life on NFl Network Official Thread

It APPEARS that the entire first half of this program is up on NFL.com in five separate clips!

I just went through those - first of all, this is pure Patriot porn, could there be anything better than this? Can we contract NFL Network to do this every year?

But from the comments, it appears part of it is missing. I don't see anything in those five clips from the Titans snow game that people keep mentioning.

I also enjoyed seeing him away from football, fishing, golfing. He's a pretty modest guy, gotta be a multi-millionaire and 5 Rings was a nice boat (Grady-White) but I'm sure he could be in a yacht if he desired.

I know the backdrop and agree with everything you're saying but at the same time how cool would some of those things have been? A two minute glimpse into the trade talks with Al? That could have been legendary. BB's phone call to Seymour saying we sent you packing......

I know it's probably unrealistic for them to do those things and they wanted more of the Giant Stadium retrospective.

Not getting into snow-gate I understand more

Re: BB A Football Life on NFl Network Official Thread

The opening scene..one w. the boat...once I saw BB's feet, I though of Rex.

Re: BB A Football Life on NFl Network Official Thread

If they did this in 2010 behind the scenes when Moss was let go,the viewing audience might have been higher than the super bowl ratings

Highest-rated documentary in NFLN history.

Second-highest rated show in Boston media market, beating all broadcast networks (first was, not surprisingly, the Red Sox game ).

Just read this over at PFT.

It sucks, and I guess those are the breaks, but its hard to wonder what could have been in the playoffs given that Wes almost didn't play.

Given the state of the team and how lopsided the loss to the Ravens was however, its difficult to envision things going down much differently.

Once I get the download, I shall upload it and sent you all the link. Prob be up on friday night.

I;m getting the same on as last week....

It starts at 10 dude.

well post the link as soon as it is available.

Part 2 starts with the blowout loss against the Saints, and ends at the start of the Baltimore playoff loss....I hear its very good, supposedly more pants tent potential than last week

Why cant this be 5 part series? or 10 part? LOL

Seriously.. i want to watch every last second of footage they recorded... :rocker:

to echo MLR's point earlier in the thread, this was to be part of a longer more detailed look at one of the greatest football coaches of all time. Im sure there will be a broader look at BB after he retires with more footage from other years. That will be must see TV also...
