Just wondering how you folks would feel about the idea of our Patriots trading, literally, whatever it would take, to get in position to draft Johnny Manziel next year. From what I've seen of this guy, he may have what it takes to become the best QB in the NFL for many years. I know that Brady...
***** The Patriots had trouble moving the ball consistently in that first half. The reason was fairly obvious. Brady had little or no time to find receivers for deep, or even mid-range passes.
***** Fast forward to the second half. Whatever changes Dante made for the blocking schemes, they...
***** The meal I would enjoy most can only be provided by the Patriots "feature RB". I desperately want him to make me eat the words I'm about to write!
***** Here's a note from Reiss' Blog, with an "open letter" from me to Mr. "Macaroney" to follow:
Maroney on running style
FOXBOROUGH --...
And another teaching related question for him:
You place alot of emphasis on players recognizing situations, and reacting accordingly. Is there one specific situation that you'd consider the most difficult for players to recognize, and, therefore, most often missed?
Mike's question is the one I would have suggested; so let me give it a strong second.
Here's another I'll suggest: Of all of the skills and techniques required of a linebacker in your defence, which is the most difficult to teach?
The 'mcbee' handle is obviously an alias, because I just checked the list of NFL GMs and Head Coaches, and didn't see a "McBee" there. I don't think I've ever seen that much certainty about the future of a player from Mel Kiper!
I agree that last season was certainly far better than anything...
My purely "gut feel guess" is that it is what it is. No deal is completed yet.
However, I do concede that HWC's theory could be correct. What you're missing, Gumby, is that "Franchised" is not a guarantee that Samuel will play for the Pats, or that the Pats believe he will. He could still...
I know it's fun to speculate and wish about additional FA's that could help us. However, IMO, our only big bucks priority now should be to close the deal on a contract extension for Samuel. Doing so will really solidify our CB situation, and clarify the priorities for all other needs.
I...
Please excuse a short disclaimer here. I'm retired now, and living in Thailand. Life is great, and there's plenty of NFL football on TV during the season. But the greatest loss for me, as a long-time draftnik, is that there is NO NCAA football broadcast here. So, I can't even pretend to have any...
Finally, some common sense, presented without emotion or ego. Thank you.
The Colts are, as you said, a smart and talented team. Like the majority here, I despise the character they present both on and off the field. But that doesn't change the fact that they are a formidable foe on the field...
Re: Owners to Consider Two Rule Change Proposals
No question that the definition, and the subsequent interpretations of it, would be difficult. No question that there would be controversy over virtually every decision made in one of those critical, game-changing situations. One team or the...
Re: Owners to Consider Two Rule Change Proposals
Keep in mind that players can be fined, and even suspended, for spearing. Any hit that is clearly illegal, and delievered with perceived intent to injure can, and should, have repercussions well beyond a 15-yard penalty.
Re: Owners to Consider Two Rule Change Proposals
There are a few options as to how to change the PI rules, and opinions will certainly vary among fans, owners, coaches, etc. But, IMO, there is an absolute necessity to make some positive change that will: a.) reduce the severity of a "minor"...
What I like best about this story is the fact that the Pats are showing interest in a LB that is projected as a R1 pick. We all know that BB has not shown a tendency to take LBs that high. I, for one, have regretted that for years. While the vets we've brought in have, for the most part, been...
