I also think they can run the table. They do that, tiebreakers and all the other stuff is moot. The Pats simply cannot afford to lose to the Jets next Monday night.
Groh was Pats DC the entire time Parcells was here. Parcells never pulled the DC job away from Groh when BB arrived. As Assistant Head Coach, BB had great input on the entire Pats team next to Parcells, not just the defense. The only big part that I can still recall that BB changed on defense...
I was correcting the OP's (and a lot of BB worshippers' most common) misconception is that BB was a DC everywhere he went with Parcells.
I still remember the 1996 season like it was yesterday.
Parcells, as much as I dislike him on how he left here, is a great coach in his own right. Can't...
For an apparent BB worshipper, you certainly fumbled the ball here.
Al Groh was the Pats' DC in '96. BB came here that year as both assistant head coach and defensive backs coach.
When he went to the Jets, I'm not sure BB actually had the official title of DC, even though you...
I'm still angry at what happened in Arizona. Just felt like BB allowed it to happen. For me as a Pats fan, this is a very long offseason regardless if they get good FAs and a great draft.
Re: Larry Ridley: Zach Thomas visiting Pats on Sunday
Belichick may have been the Giants coordinator, but back then he didn't have the power to choose those linebackers like he does now as head coach of the Patriots.
To me, winning a division means you're guaranteed to be always seeded higher than a wild card team. I really hate to see the day the league actually allows a wildcard champ getting a 1st round bye over a division champion.
Don't know if anyone else here thought of this as a possibility.
If lets say the Giants win it Sunday, I could see Goodell easily be on the podium handing the team the Lombardi. But if its the Pats winning, he could feel that the last coach with the undefeated season should hand the trophy...
I said to friends and fellow fans since the start of the season, the '07 Patriots strongly reminded me of the 1994 49ers. They came into this season still infuriated from last year's AFCCG loss and BB decided to design the team to overtake the SB champs (Colts). Much like the 49ers did in 1994...
Absolutely, and thats a fact a lot of people who think he'll come back and play for a few more years is ignoring. Its a health issue that would play in his decision.
If I'm not mistaken, like Seau, Bruschi is also at the end of his contract, so he may not even bother re-upping it. Which is...
Players remaining from SB XXXI: Tedy Bruschi & Troy Brown
Coaches remaining: Bill Belichick & Dante Scarnecchia
You're correct in that he was AHC/DBs coach, but BB was hired right after he was let go by the Browns.
I always liked the visiting team to get the ball first to start the game, then the home team gets its to start the 2nd half. Which I hope is the case today.
Lets say the Pats have a good lead and they get the ball to start the 3rd quarter, all the better IMHO.
