Darrelle Revis Coming to the Patriots Likely Unrealistic

As we know, adding a shut down corner to the Patriots secondary would certainly be a welcomed addition, but seeing it come at the price they'd have to pay to pry away Darrelle Revis from the Buccaneers makes the most recent rumors for his services seem a little unrealistic.
According to ProFootballTalk.com they seem to believe the Patriots could be a potential landing spot for the veteran cornerback, but it's tough to see that as a possibility considering the likely high price tag the Buccaneers would be looking for, as well as the salary implications involved.
As PFT points out, on top of the draft pick they'd need to surrender, the Patriots would have to pay Revis a $1.5 million roster bonus, a $1.5 million workout bonus, and a $13 million base salary. While they speculate that may be more desirable in giving big money to Aqib Talib for a multi-year deal, it's tough to imagine the Patriots going against their history of paying top money for a player like that, not to mention giving up a high draft pick in order to bring him here to begin with.
The Patriots already pried Talib away from Tampa Bay in a trade in November of 2012 and he's been a terrific fit with their defense since he's been here. The veteran is once again headed to free agency after the team opted not to use the franchise tag on him, and despite getting him back on a 1-year $5-million salary this past offseason it will likely require a more significant deal to keep him in the fold moving forward. His injury history should hopefully make getting a long-term deal done more attainable, but unless they have a back-up plan in place, this is definitely going to be one of the more critical situations to watch in the coming weeks.
As for Revis coming to New England, it's just a deal that seems unrealistic given how the Patriots do business. Regardless of how it turns out, Bill Belichick needs to make sure his team doesn't come up empty, because this is a secondary that has been inconsistent in past seasons and it would be nice if they could build on the success they experienced from some of the younger players this past season and solidifying it by either keeping Talib, or bringing in someone else they can count on.
Either way, the odds of it being Revis just seems to be too big of a longshot.
