Ok, so this is hockey related but it's worth mentioning as I bet this has never come up in any league before, but..........

If the Chicago Blackhawks win tonight, this year's NHL conference finals will the four teams that won the cup in the last four years.

Even if the Red Wings pull it off, you'll get the conference finals will be made up four of the last five Stanley Cup winners.

Or at this very moment, the five remaining teams consist of the last five Stanley Cup winners.

Stanley Cup Champions

2008 Detroit Red Wings
2009 Pittsburgh Penguins
2010 Chicago Blackhawks
2011 Boston Bruins
2012 LA Kings

Has this ever come close to happening in football?

Last year? Substitute the Giants for the Falcons and it's the same four teams.

No. The Final Four in hockey could be the Last 4 Stanley Cup Winners.

It hasn't happened in football where the Conference Finalists were the last 4 Super Bowl winners that I can tell by a quick look. It came close in the 1983 Season.

NFC Washington(82) vs San Fran(81)
Raiders(80) vs Seattle

Pittsburgh lost to Raiders in Div finals
