Offenses are SUPPOSED TO RUN UP THE SCORE.

THAT'S THEIR JOB.

TO GET THE SCORE "UP".

"Running it up" is what they were hired to do. If they are not "running up the score" then they aren't doing their job.

Anyone criticizing an offense for scoring points, no matter how many they have or what their lead is, is nothing but a jealous idiot.

I dont think they really ran up the score though. We don't have much of a running game with Maroney being somewhat hurt and no need to risk faulk to injury. Eckle isn't all that so our best running game was our short passing game. It's not like they went deep. Plus I think that last TD was a result of Jason Taylor's ridiculous little celebration.

What do you mean they didn't run up the score? The 49 points just materialized?

They "ran up the score" by 49 points, which is precisely what they were supposed to do.

Sometimes they "run up" 14. Sometimes they "run up" 49. Regardless, they're doing their job.

The difference is when a team like the Colts "run up the score" Pats fans scream "oh he's just padding his stats." You cannot tell me Brady throwing a 4th quarter TD didn't pad his stats. He came back in to throw that TD which makes it that much more obvious.

I'm not sure why people complain about this.

If Manning has the ability to put huge numbers on the board, then power to him.
