Camp fodder
Posted by Karen Guregian at 8:13 pm
Here are a few observations from the Brady-less session this afternoon.
CALLING TY LAW? A scary moment occurred during 11-on-11 drills when cornerback Fernando Bryant remained lying on the ground after a Brandon Meriweather interception. Matt Gutierrez had heaved the ball into traffic, and Bryant was around the ball, although it wasn’t clear how he got hurt. Bryant got up under his own power, and walked gingerly to the sidelines. There, he laid down for a while, attended to by trainer Jim Whalen, before getting up and jogging and testing his legs. He appeared to have a problem with his left knee.
Eventually, Bryant returned to action.
Already thin at the position with Ellis Hobbs on PUP, and Asante Samuel and Randall Gay with other teams, and Jason Webster missing the last six practices, the Pats could ill-afford to lose Bryant, who has shown the best at camp thus far.
