Colts deal disappointing first-round pick Jerry Hughes to Buffalo for LB Kelvin Sheppard | indystar.com
The Indianapolis Colts shipped underachieving outside linebacker Jerry Hughes to Buffalo on Monday for linebacker Kelvin Sheppard.
Thought to be the heir apparent to defensive ends Dwight Freeney or Robert Mathis when he was selected 31st overall in the 2010 draft, Hughes didn’t pan out. After recording 30 sacks and eight forced fumbles in his final two seasons at TCU, Hughes failed to produce a sack and had just six tackles in 12 games as a rookie. He managed only one sack and 15 tackles the next season.
