For info.....

I was watching part of the Pro Football network programme tonight and there was a headline "Chiefs lose stadium renovation vote , leaving their future in doubt". Apparently the lease expires after the 2030 season. I have not been following this at all but maybe it is of interest to someone.

The tax would be directed toward funding a new Royals stadium if approved. The three-eighths-cent tax would fund the repair and maintenance of Arrowhead Stadium. Chiefs owner Clark Hunt said the family would contribute $300 million of the $800 million remaining to renovate Arrowhead. The Chiefs still need to secure the remaining $500 million in funding.

There is a current tax expiring in 2031 when the leases expire for the Chiefs and Royals. The new tax would be the same amount expiring in 2064. The tax would also help build a new stadium for the Royals.

Sports franchises bring in enormous revenue to the region they're in, and the tax does sound small. Either way, it just freaking grates when you see billions pour in and then they look for the public to fund their stadiums

The figures are huge but I am sure money will be found from somewhere !
