Who would you have rather picked with NE's picks that they used?

I'll share my meaningless re-draft now

1.17) Michael Mayer, TE, Notre Dame
2.46) Cam Smith, CB, SC
3.76) Blake Freeland, OT, BYU
4.107) Stetson Bennett, QB, UGA
4.112) KJ Henry, DE, Clemson
4.117) Noah Sewell, LB, Oregon
5.144) Henry To'o To'o, LB, Alabama
6.187) Kayshon Boutte, WR, LSU
6.192) Jarrett Patterson, C, ND
6.210) Deuce Vaughn, RB, KSU
6.214) Dee Winters, LB, TCU
7.245) Michael Turk, P, Oklahoma

UDFAs: QB Malik Cunningham Louisville, RB Mo Ibrahim Minnestota, WR Jake Bobo UCLA, WR Jadon Haselwood Arkansas, WR Gunner Romney BYU, WR Aron Cruikshank Rutgers, TE Noah Gindorff NDSU, LB Cam Jones Indiana, FS Brandon Joseph ND

Yay or nay? I'm indifferent on NE's 2023 class, especially after I hated the 2022 class which is seemingly solid

I like Mayer but not at 17. No way. Switch that with Gonzo or 5-6 other prospects

Stay at 14 and run with the pick, Christian Gonzalez. I am not the poker player Bill is. Bravo to him
46. I wanted five position versatile Dalton Risner the year Bill laid an ugly egg with N’Keal Harry. So I’d go with Cody Mauch.
76. Definitely looking at offense here. The Packers are probably going to really like Tucker Kraft. Wasn’t he supposed to be a Patriot, anyway, just with that name and his size to block on the line? Our two TEs are on final year deals. What the hell, Bill?
107. LT cause our QB doesn’t do pressure well. Let’s make him have a resurgence with a guy that is intriguing, with all the physical tools, but an injury last year has pushed him down the boards. Carter Warren, LT, Pittsburgh. Might develop into a quality starter. Look what we’ve got now. Imagine the pile of goo it’s going to be in another year. Starters Calvin Anderson and someone else? Andy Stooper? McDermont?
120. Isaiah McGuire, DE, Missouri. Patriots type player.
135. Atonio Mafi, OG, UCLA. Road grader par excellence.

The rest becomes too speculative. But go with the Maryland kicker. The center from Troy was vastly over drafted. Can still get him. And a WR before the sixth round, although they may have struck gold with one or both.

But the glaring weaknesses with line depth, esp. OT is alleviated. We gave a promising young TE in a rookie contract. Remember those days? And Isaiah McGuire is the DE we would have been happy with.

And can still get the ST players in a kicker (Bill, the supply of kickers far exceeds the demand, you numbnutz.), the punter (I preferred the kid from Rutgers. Not the Robey

-type leg of Porn Star. The Rutgers punter is better at the coffin kick), and the fantastic Bolden kid. Ameer Speed is a wasted pick.

Right off the bat, I would DEMAND that ****tsdirt give us #80 instead of 120 for the 14-17 swap. I know I'm gonna lose Broderick Jones in the process, so this must be for a Very good reason, and just for 120 simply isn't a good enough reason; and besides, they're the ones asking for it so make them pay for once Billy! The JJTV Chart says that's within reason too. Having made the revised trade I now proceed to the picks:

17 - No change

46 - No change

76 - Either TE Chocolate Gronk aka Darnell Washington, or TE Tucker No Relation to Bob Kraft. MUCH too early for Marty McPoo.

I make the same trade with Carolina that the Squealers did here: 80 for 93 & 132.

93 - LT Blake Freeland. Best one available at that critical position; and Mac needs MUCH better blind-side protection.

107 - RT Dawand Jones. Why not? None of our current RTs will or at least should be here next season; and while I Never would've drafted him before I drafted a LT, that first need has now been addressed, so why not also grab our Right Tackle of the Future who also happens to be the Best Player Available Regardless of Position? Jake the hopefully not Newest Fake Andrews was WAY over-drafted here.

117 - Two possibilities: CB Darius Rush or either of WRs Tyler Scott & Charlie Jones.

I like Sidy Sow, but unless moving Strange69 or Double-S himself for that matter to Left Tackle is an actual Thing, then he simply isn't what was needed with that pick.

132 - Either Tyler Scott or Darius Rush, whoever wasn't taken at 117.

144 - Marty McPoo if he's still available and either Hank Tootoo or App State's Nick Hampton if he isn't. Fat Tony Mafia would've never, Ever been under my consideration at Any time during the draft, including #245.

184 - WR AT Perry; or Andrei Iosivac for those concerned about Perry dropping footballs more often than he should.

187 - I think I might've taken the Army kid here, Andre Carter II; and even though he would've been available with any of the rest of my picks, I obviously wouldn't have known that then.

192 - Ohio State's Luke Wypler was just taken two picks earlier, so now's the time to draft the best remaining C/G, ND's Jarrett Patterson... And yes, that includes Jake Andrews, whom I STILL wouldn't have taken at this point with Patterson still available.

210 - DBs Cory Trice (first choice) or Jaylon Jones; or Free Safeties Brandon Joseph, Ronnie Hickman or Jason Taylor II, I could've been talked into any of them... Really surprised that Trice has lasted this long.

214 - RB/FB/TE Hunter Leupke. I really, Really wanted Northwestern's Evan Hull, but he was scooped-up by the Indy bloodClots at 176.
More traditional RBs Zach Evans, Ken McIntosh, Sean Tucker, Keaton Mitchell & Dwayne McBride were all still available here too.

And finally, at #245: Beef Curtain Jerrod Clark from Coastal Carolina via Dorchestah MA!

14 picks, and ZERO Special olympics Teamers, real or imagined... Folk's good for one more season, and two of the top Punters weren't even drafted AT ALL.

You're welcome.

Atonio Mafi. I liked the pick…until I didn’t. Can only operate in a phone booth. The antithesis of uber athletic Cole Strange. At the same LG position!

Reminds me of another similar player drafted by the Pats.

Halapio has reinvented himself as a center to carve out a career for himself after barely hanging on for years on multiple teams’ practice squads.

Johnny Sloppio was taken 35 picks later in 2014 than Fat Tony was this year, but that STILL made him a Terrible choice at 179 because Doctor Laurent Duvernay-Tardif was the Obvious Best OLman Available at the time of that pick... As were another half-dozen more that were >>> him.

17. Cb Christian Gonzales. Had him ranked below Spoon and Porter however still Love the pick and the value at 17.

46 de/dt Keion White. Violent pick. So glad to get a fresh beast with first round talent to help out Judon and Barmore.

76. Te Darnell Washington. Not really a need this year but it will be soon after. Henry and Gesicke are fine, but without knowing the details of why he fell, he seemed like a steal and someone who could of grew into the starting role. Running game would of loved him.

107.g Sidy Sow. Great pick, Dante could of made this kid amazing. We’ll see what Klemm can do. Missed out on Breeland one pick earlier so getting the best guard available made sense.

112. Ot Jaelyn Duncan. Again, Missed out on Breeland at 106 to Colts so he was the best available. Great athlete with a ton of starts at LT. Too bad, so sad.

117.Wr AT Perry. No idea why he fell so far. Obviously would of been a great pick up right here.

144. Cb Jaylon Jones. Wanted another jones and thought he was one of the better ones available.

187. Kayshon Boutte, like this pick, low risk high reward that you’d expect at this time of draft.

192. Lb Aubrey Miller.again at this point was worth the risk with so many picks. Hate that Miami got him.

210. Isaiah Bolden. Love this pick.

214. Fb Hubter Luepke. I think everyone thought he he was a possibility, or rather a shoe in.

245. S Ronnie Hickman. Sure.

I really like the Mapu pick btw. I hope he flourishes and shoves success right up his naysayers asses. However, I can see why the round may bother some considering you see him anywhere from 74 to 160 depending who you ask or read. Looks like a pick the boss really wanted and I’m fine with it. Couldnt pick him again in the 4th due to the rules of the redraft.

As far as Dawand Jones. F that fat f***. Any player that eats his way out of the combine weighing in at 376 and refuses to step on a scale at his proday where scouts think he even gained more weight can kiss his ass goodbye. It would be like showing up to your biggest interview of your life on crack, naked. Basically didnt do any drills at senior bowl, just a few things at his combine and nothing at the pro day. He better play like a offensive version of Ted Washington.

What I really like in the redrafts by CPT Stone and PM is the drafting of a very good inline blocking TE, Chocolate Gronk, at 76.

That helps out our OTs a lot. And this season I suspect they aren’t going to do very well on an island.

Seems to me that all redrafts are sullied with hindsight. They make sense 3-4 years out to determine what you might have done better.

I think blocking TEs are easy to find and they basically signed one in Firkser.

It's hard to make 21-personnel work if neither of your TEs can block worth a ****; and that's the problem we'll have here whenever Double-H & Gesicki are on the field at the same time. Having a healthy Chocolate Gronk would've alleviated - if not Eliminated - that problem.

I wonder what Obie really thought of Al Groh's kid & Billy drafting McPoo instead of Washington...

Ha, this is very amusing.

At this point, the Patriots draft seems about as perfect as you could reasonably expect in the real world. The only quibble I have is the ridiculous reluctance to draft Demario Douglas until late in the 6th. The Patriots could have easily swapped him with Sidy Sow at 4.

No it isn't; not by a damn sight.

There were better WRs available in the 4th round than Douglas.

Let's revisit this a few months into the season. I predict that Douglas in round 6 was one of the biggest steals of 2023 draft....but we don't know for sure, yet. Time will tell.
