To be fair, the Brady stuff was way overblown -- I think the whole 'last year of the contract' when it comes to players, and especially to coaches is way overblown.
And the Manning stuff couldn't have been predicted. I bet if things were reverse -- Brady missed the entire season again and...
A pro bowl selection isn't about "who performed above their expectations"; its "who is the top (in case of QBs 3) at their position.
Cassel is not a top 3 AFC QB.
I dont think comparing Brady and Cassel's first years starting are valid comparisons;
Cassel has the one of the top 3 wide receivers of all time; and the best slot receiver the Patriots ever had;
Brady had average to below average wide receivers.
I think an interesting question would be: How do athletes (football players and otherwise) perform in their first game after a parent passes away; I wouldn't be shocked if there's a huge deviation from the average (many playing horribly; and many playing greatly).
Re: Seymour not happy with Pees decision to sit him on third downs
He already pulled a Deoin with his last contract; the diff is the Pats payed Seymour whereas they didn't pay Branch and let him hold out.
There's no disadvantage.
First, UCLA is going to take a timeout to start the game to even things out as they also think USC is doing the right thing.
Also, if that wasn't the case, maybe the home Jersey has a subconsious effect on his team to play harder; if thats true, then the timeout is...
In fairness to Givens, he was offered a crapload more money thhan he would've gotten for staying. We're not talking about a million per year; And as I recall, most ppl at the time didn't think the Pats should've come anywhere close to what Givens was offered.
Also, the Pats are better off...
I can blame him for carrying. Celebrities and athletes are rich enough such that they dont have to deal with this stuff themselves. He should've hired a bodyguard, and the bodyguard could do the carrying for him. Just like when a celebrity gets arrested for dui. Thats the dumbest thing...
I think its hard to tell. Weis has a history of making the offense overachieve (or rather make the big plays when needed); and was able to do it with less talent. McD has been able to get this offense to click, but hasn't been able to get the last game winning (or tieing) playoff drive to...
Why trade just brady? why not trade em both.
Trade Brady for 2 #1s; Franchise & Trade Cassel for a #1.
Then we'll have 5 #1s over the next 2 years to turn this defense into the greatest ever.
Meanwhile, we still have O'Connell to lead the offense to a season greater than 07. If BB can...
actually brady can't come back this season even if he did miraculously heal; so the original post is invalid;
how about this though: cassell gets hurt on the first play, out for season; o'connell comes in and get hurts (just for the game though).
Now we have no qb so we let have morris...
Re: Fox Sports: Parcells vs Belichick neck and neck for now.
and BB hasn't won anything without Weis; so maybe Weis is the real genius?
Both BB and Parcells are great coaches; and both are smart enough to find smart people to work under them
Isn't this what people wanted Law to do: To put money aside and do whats in his best playing interest.
It looks like he did that; with the Jets, he was told exactly what his role would be; with the Pats, he was not told what his role would be; He decided to go to the team where you knew for...
Matt Cassell is not a top 5 qp; Matt Cassell will not be franchised; No team would be willing to pay Matt Cassell to be the 3rd highest paid QB in the league and also be willing to give up talent/draft-picks as well. Matt Cassell if he had the chance to be the 3rd highest paid QB would not...

Maybe Ty is factually correct.
Had Ty signed with the Pats in the preseason, he would've gotten alot more than what he's now getting from the Jets to play a half season.
The rest of it is just to play to his Jets fans. A Jets fan wouldn't want to hear their player say "I wanted to play for...
all you haters owe law an apology;
he might not be the dominant shutdown corner he once was, but he's still above average (as he was with KC)...
I'm in the "I wish Law had signed with the Pats" camp; but even I'm suprised by how well he's played just 3 days after signing
there's nothing wrong with Ty's quotes...
Ty is a outspoken guy; it was okay when he was on the Patriots and was encouraging Kraft to dance at the Super Bowl celebration; but now that he's not a Patriot he's an idiot for that same behavoir?
As far as the quote...
1. He's right, the Pats...
this wouldn't suprise me if Cassel keeps improving like he is (although I'm far from the 'lets franchise him' crowd).
However, I think the D (esp the front 7) also would need to improve for this to happen (they have the talent to, but they're not playing like the 2000 - 04 dominance level)
