Your first point is part an appeal to authority. Were you D1 football in Alabama? Very different culture than yankee territory. Your second point is fair to an extent but you're starting to argue that the value is in the practice of sport--not the degree and education. Most student athletes...
Sure, I agree that it's not going to change, but I'm arguing what's right--not what's legally practical. It will never change.
As for reducing costs, if a coach is paid $5 million, and that was reduced by $4 million, that's a lot of full ride scholarships. Isn't it? But regardless, it's also...
Someone brought up a legitimate point about that. Some kids' education is a farce. They practice all the time, take easy classes, and meet the minimums for attendance. What value do those students receive?
And not every student-athlete receives a scholarship.
I think the bigger issue isn't whether or not the kids should be making money. It's that some people are making millions in the industry when more of the money should be devoted to cheapening the schools. There doesn't seem to be any laws for how much employees can be paid by supposed "not for...
I know it's common thinking that Kraft wussed out in dealing with the NFL office. But I think Goodell threatened to ban BB indefinitely. That sort of strong-arming is difficult to defy. Who amongst us would honestly act any differently? Kraft had too much to lose.
Goodell already suspended...
Some people still thing that Brady should sue for defamation, but someone in the media commented that he would be unlikely to win due to Brady being a public figure. Public figures have a difficult time winning in court.
McNally and Jastremski, however.....think of that trove of emails between...
It's amazing to reflect on the 2013 season when we lost our two starting DTs and were sorely lacking in depth. Losing Vince Wilfork and Tommy Kelly crippled that defense and team, leaving them with an insurmountable critical weakness.
Fast forward to today where BB has bolstered the DT...
The Jets initially dominated the TOP but ended with an average 33 minutes. As good as their defense is, it will take a better opposing offense to defeat this team.
We'll see these guys again in week 16, and hopefully the game won't matter.
The line will be tested again this week. It's arguable that this is the best defensive line they'll face all season.
At least it's a home game and crowd noise won't be a factor. That'll prep the team for the second time around when it's at Jets.
Always the same two problems with studies:
Cause versus correlation (almost always they prove correlation--not cause)
Too many (confounding) variables
For the regular Joes amongst us, normal, unprocessed food trumps manufactured, artificial food. This type of talk shouldn't be outlandish anymore.
