ESPN SAM MONSON: Tom Brady is no longer a top-5 QB

PFF is states the same things I've been saying about Brady since 2011. PFF is the best site out there since they analyze game film. Tape doesn't lie. Unfortunately, it's only for the Homer Impaired.

    Nick Caserio's draft recap

Gallon returns punts. He has a good shot at making the team.

***THE OFFICIAL PatsFans draftniks 2014 NFL Draft thread***

Rounds 4 - 7 Mel Kiper whiffed. This is what he had for his "top needs": TE, DL, S, RB. The Pats O-line was a train wreck. Brady took a beating in 2013. The culprits were Wendell, Connolly, and Mankins. Yes, Mankins. 2012 looks like a flash in the pan for Wendell. in 2013, he was the worst...

***THE OFFICIAL PatsFans draftniks 2014 NFL Draft thread***

I"m a Pats fan but not a homer. I've been critical of this team from the owner to the backup O-linemen. That said, I love this draft. Rounds 1 - 2 Easley - He recovered completely from his 1st ACL. His 2nd ACL will be 1 year recovered early in the regular season. I'm sure BB checked him out...

Pass Defense -Not as Bad as You Think

Mayo's injury might be viewed as an improvement in the passing D. In 4 games this season: Targeted: 22 Completions: 19 Comp%: 86.4 YPC: 8.9 Yards: 170 YAC: 140 TD: 2 NFL Passer Rating: 129.2 Gee, how can we replace that???

    Some Reality Regarding Our Defense

The team won't miss Mayo as much as the majority believes. LBs who are good against the run and are a liability in pass coverage aren't hard to replace. Moreover, Spikes is finally starting to emerge from BB's doghouse.

Who is still available at OG???

Davis would be my first choice followed by Seubert. If Manuwai is in shape, which he wasn't last year, I'll take him.

    James Sanders cut

re: James sanders cut (merged) Not to me. I thought about him getting cut this morning. He's a minimum wage caliber player who wasn't starting and wasn't really good. He was overpaid from his extension that he signed a couple of years ago.

Do You Give a Crap About the Lockout?

As long as the Celtics retain their cap advantage over most of the NBA teams in the summer of 2012, no. 2011-12 is a throwaway season where the big 3 would simply linger for one more go around.

Thoughts on #85 and the WR's

The Pats 2011 fate is tied to their defense. If Carter/Ellis/Hanyesworth play to their career norms, then this offense is adequate to win a SB with. That said, if you want to know what the 2011 team really looks like, become a fly on the wall at one of their closed practices.

    Dan Connolly injury overreaction?

I'm not all set with Connolly as the starting RG. I've heard talk of playing Solder there, but I wish Light would move to RG and Solder stays at LT. Ohrnberger was a reach as a former 4th rounder, and IMO, I'm hoping he doesn't make the 53. What's Cannon's status?

The Importance Or Nonimportance Of Spikes

Spikes has more defensive stops per snaps than Mayo.

The Importance Or Nonimportance Of Spikes

Really? Tackling Linebackers | ProFootballFocus.com Moreover, Spikes made more impact plays than Mayo, when Brandon was on the field. I'm not saying Mayo "sucks" I just think he's locally overrated because of his tackle numbers. So far I like what I've seen from Jarod in the preseason. He's...

Jeff Howe of NESN thinks Brandon Spikes is not thrilled to be here

I'm a big Spikes fan, that said, I hope he gets his head out of his behind, and soon.

We should take a minute to count our football blessings

This contradicts the title of your thread. I thought the Pats exceeded expectations in 2010. I knew their D would be a problem and their Passing game is overrated. But the team had its best draft, possibly ever and the future is bright. Yes, it sucked to lose to the Jets, but they were...

The Importance Or Nonimportance Of Spikes

Tackles aren't everything. Mayo might have a breakout season playing the weakside on the 4-3, but in his career as a 3-4 ILB, he's been a liability in coverage and gets frequently walled off by OL on running plays. Prior to 2011, Mayo has been a poor man's Patrick Willis.
  17. Brady-To-Branch

The Importance Or Nonimportance Of Spikes

Spikes was the Past best LB in 2010. He led all LBs on the team with defensive stops (a play that results in 1 yard gain or less). BB's decision to start Guyton over him in the playoffs was disastrous. Re-Focused: Divisional Round, Jets at Patriots | ProFootballFocus.com PFF Secret...
