Yet another WR who put up more stats in 1 game than Tyquan Thornton did all of last season, a whopping 91 yards 0 TDs for the whole year!
YUP, we sure knew how NOT to pick our WRs!
We signed another WR3. Huzzah!
Our problems are solved! :haha:
TBH. I don't hate it. He's put up 500+ yards each of the past 3 seasons so at least he's an upgrade on the bottom end of the depth chart.
But this still feels like a very mid move.
A 6th round pick. It can upgrade to a 4th round pick depending on playing time. That's such a cheap price it's unbelievable the Pats didn't make an offer!
Justin Fields for just a 6th round pick? Are you kidding me? Why weren't the Pats in on this trade? That's like nothing and he would absolutely have been the best QB on the roster!
Was the objective also outlined as Don't get a starting WR1 and Don't get a starting LT?
I was expecting more from 100 million. Maybe some other people have lower expectations. But we still have major holes that haven't been addressed at all with over 55m of those dollars unspent on helping...
When Mayo said we were ready to burn money to get better... I was hoping for more fire than we actually got so far!
I was picturing something like this:
But so far what we got feels more like this:
We had 100m of cap space after cutting JC Jackson entering free agency.
Where's all this...
Ridley got 92m over 4 years so 23m AAV.
Like I said Evans set the market when he signed for 26m per year with Tampa Bay.
Guess the Patriots didn't want to burn that much cash.
Either that or they switched their target to the Charger's Williams.
Good catch. Regrettably the former GM didn't consider that when signing Parker to an extension and so Wolf is trying to make lemonade out of the crap salad left behind.
Yup we had one X-factor who helped cover up the cracks in the wall - TB12. I know some fans hate him now because he left. But the way BB treated him, and was slowly destroying the offense around him, I can't blame him. And for TB12 to win a championship outside of Foxboro kinda says it all...
Reports from Jeff Howe are the dead money hit for release is 6.3m this year. But we still end up saving 140k in cap space. Resigning Parker was a bad decision in the first place. He never earned that money with his play and now he's gone.

Mike Williams has now been released according to Rapoport. Will the Patriots be suitors?

Another incentive laden deal. He earns base 3 years 12 million. But it can increase to up to 24 million. I like how these contracts are structured. If Jennings doesn't hit those incentives, he's only 4m per year. But if he plays great he's making 8m per.

Outside of a couple of exceptions most of those guys who didn't get a 2nd contract list are just hot garbage. Just shows you how awful our drafts were over the last decade! The grocery shopper got gone for good reasons! Now we have to rebuild.
I like it. We're not committing long term dollars but we're getting back a guy who played pretty well for us and already knows the defensive system. So far a lot of the moves under Wolfe just make sense. If Uche blows up and has a monster season then he can get a richer deal in free agency...
I believe you overestimate Strange's abilities. If Strange was suited for left tackle they would have played him there. We had guys like Wynn and Brown phoning in their play at LT the past couple of years and never once did the coaches consider playing Strange at LT. I think there's a reason...
Incentives laden contract? That makes me feel better. If he doesn't do great he's only making about 7m AAV. If he's hitting 33 million that means he's playing gangbusters and was worth the money.
