Rex Ryan went out and signed Decker
But Belichick has the best record
He said to Rex, "Jesus,
We signed Darrelle Revis,
I think you should just stick to checkers."
Can't decide whether I'd rather have him in a Patriots uniform or on NFL Total Access. His color commentary and analysis have been pretty great so far.
Re: Day 1 of Free Agency: Patriots Do NOTHING!!
To sum up my argument, I think that the relative success that many unknown or mediocre players from other teams had with the Pats, and the relative lack of success that players who left the Pats had on other teams, is evidence that something...
They all did well here, too. I wouldn't consider that evidence against the Patriots system and methodology working, especially because Samuel got more money than we could afford or were willing to pay (that money went to Moss instead), we got a first-round pick that turned into Nate Solder for...
LaFell is comparable in age, will sign a multi-year deal, and is a significantly smaller financial risk. If money were no object then we would just sign both... But if we have to choose between them, and also fill other needs, LaFell is the obvious choice.
Here are some more data points.
Matt Cassel, David Givens, Ellis Hobbs, Brandon Meriweather, Ty Warren, and Law Firm all had success on the Pats and then failed to produce at the same level, if at all, elsewhere.
Mike Vrabel, Rob Ninkovich, David Patten, Reche Caldwell, Heath Evans, Antowain...
Either Matt Cassel is terrible and exemplifies that Belichick's system of filling the team with low-cost acquisitions works well enough to hide that, or Cassel is better than we give him credit for and Belichick's ability to draft well is proof that we should be focusing on building from within...
After Elway, the Broncos went 102-90 for the next twelve years, an average of 8.5 wins a year. They made the playoffs four times and only advanced past the wildcard round one time.
Denver can have this year. We'll laugh in four when we still are making the playoffs and they're going 2-4 in...
Agreed, but if he picked the Pats as his first visit then the prospect of playing for a perennial playoff contender could be worth more to Woodyard than slightly more money. I'm sure that the Pats have a price that they know they would pay for him, and if he wants more we'll just go a different...
Agreed - if we can sign Woodyard AND Fletcher as well, more power to us, but it seems like a draft pick might fit more nicely. They could also stand pat and look for Ja'Gared Davis or Beauharnais to step up in that 5th LB spot, who knows...
Regardless, it appears that we're trying to load up...
If he costs under $2mil/year then sign the beast. He's an obvious upgrade on Dane Fletcher. Would be nice to have another Roman Phifer type in the LB core and allow Hightower/Collins/Mayo some breathing room without causing a massive drop in quality of play.
Dunno if I'd wanna pay more than...
Re: Alrerraun Verner: Pats are a "definite possibilty" & Jason McCourty told him to g
Belichick is going to use a scheme that best suits the talents of the players on his roster. I got the sense that Belichick switched the scheme to suit Talib's talents after he got there. Before that we...
I'm just hoping it works internationally, I don't care if I have to pay...I haven't watched a first round properly in years, I need to have this one work, you know?
