I would love to have a boycott of Johnson and Johnson products here in New England. A few million Pats fans not buying one J&J QTip or baby shampoo that causes tears even though it says it...
But my determination of competency is based upon the whether or not a person's body of work is viewed as successful or not by those who do measure and judge, the owners. By their actions or lack of, and his continued employment without threat of job loss tells me the owners approve of his level...
Deus, you're better than this. You're engaging in silly semantics which is way beneath you. What situations did Tagliabue have to face that even closely compared to what Goodell has dealt with?
The magnifying glass on Rozelle or Tagliabue does not even compare.
The argument is competency...
But the social media component did not exist to the degree it does now. Their weren't cameras on ever street corner, in every elevator. There's no equivalency.
I'm not a fan of Goodell's. But I am a fan of reason when it comes to judging someone's capabilities. Questioning the guy's competence is stupid pettiness. I think he may have one of the most difficult jobs in business. Between dealing with some of the most passionate fans of any sport, the...
August 8th, 2006 his tenure started. Competency is determined by the people who employ you. Add to that, no commissioner has ever had to operate in the current 24/7 news-media environment like Goodell. Hence, no commissioners actions have ever been under such a high level of scrutiny. Guys...
Any accusations regarding Goodell's incompetence are purely speculative and mostly sour grapes. Any person that is able to put themselves in a position to be commissioner of the NFL and achieve the earning power he has can never be considered incompetent.
The NFL has had record profitability and popularity under Goodell's tenure. Even WITH all the controversy. He's far from incompetent. His job as commissioner is first and foremost, is to increase the value of the NFL brand. Even with all the negative issue the NFL has faced, it benefits...
This line of thought regarding the Pats and how they view RBs is silly. I agree if other options aren't available...the Pats can duct tape together a running game very successfully.
But Peterson is an extremely special talent. There are few running backs that can destroy a defenses will...
I don't condone what he did...at all. But I have come to realize that this type of punishment is prevalent in the poor south. Many players came out saying this was par for the course growing up.
It seems horrid and an extreme for some northern white guy like me...and I could easily paint him...
Potential strategy
I enjoy going off the deep end now and then, so I thought this would be a good day.
Patriots are:
Relatively flush with cash.
No usual big name signing yet.
Talks of the offense carrying the load. A heavy ball control presence would be required.
Tom can't and...
Something about Sheard has this Vrabel/Ninkovich vibe to it. Diamond in the rough stuff. Let's hope he does 75% as well as those guys. Looks like we're going crazy ass pass rush this year....
I'm still perplexed. Bob and Jonathan Kraft roll out a bunch of disingenuous corporate BS and pleasantries constantly, but we're OK and tolerate it.
Revis went to a team that was willing to throw a whole lot of money at him, makes a few comments to appease the fans of the team that just signed...
So many folks talking about Spiller, Bush and Harvin.
Still not sure how they replace Revis and Browner with these guys..but Oh well. I think people just want a substantial acquisition right now....whether it makes sense or not.
Truth is, AT THIS MOMENT, we are in deep doo doo on...
Seriously...in Bill we trust...and all that wonderful crap...but...our corners...at this moment are awful.....Arrington and Ryan were mediocre even with Revis and Browner playing.
