This is reflected in the lower guarantees I think. Half the guaranteed money is likely in a year 1 guaranteed salary, the other half in a signing bonus, so he becomes un-cuttable in 2025 but after that the salaries aren't guaranteed so if he reverts back then they are looking at $10-15M in dead...
I think a decent season this year and possibly a few games with Maye out there at the end of the year to show his potential will go a long way towards that, especially for the free agent receiver class of 2025.
Even just the fact that Maye is rostered. It was one thing to tell free agents this...
Only $41M in guarantees, "max value" of $92M, for 4 years. This seems like an extremely favorable deal for the Patriots compared to what he'd earn in free agency.
My current projection based on the roster makeup:
CENTER:
David Andrews (starter)
Jake Andrews
GUARD:
Cole Strange* (starts out on PUP)
Sidy Sow (starter, LG)
Nick Leverett (starter, RG)
Layden Robinson
TACKLE:
Chukwuma Okorafor (starter, LT)
Michael Onwenu (starter, RT)
Calvin Anderson...
The top 3 items are a sure thing and total about $14M. Roster bonuses will not all be hit so in all likelihood that’s probably closer to $2M. So that’s only $16M needed and they have about $40M left after that.
Replacing injured players doesn’t really mean a lot since no one is injured yet, and...
Pats have had a heck of a knack for developing UDFA corners, and Mike Pellegrino is still here, so hopefully that trend continues. There’s room for one to crack the roster with a good showing.
Mayo made a comment about this pick which seemed telling. A reporter asked why they drafted a guard highly when they seem to have already invested a number of picks in recent years in guys who are playing guard, it doesn’t seem like a need.
Mayo responded that several of those players who were...
There’s a lot more to a deep threat than just how fast they ran in a straight line in the 40 yard dash. Many of the WR1s in the league have a 40 time similar or even slower than Polk and Baker. No reason one of them can’t become deep threats. They both were on their college teams.
Yeah that is also a good point. You have to guess neither of Maye or Milton are ready to be QB2 in week 1… maybe Maye will be. Probably better to have a guy with some experience as the backup but then they’re carrying 4 QBs. Not sure. Maye might have to be QB2. Hopefully he will have proven himself.
Yeah, people highlight the fact that they have 11 receivers but you need that many for your 90 man roster ultimately. It’s just that usually 4 or 5 of them are camp bodies. In our case most of them have a chance at a starting job if they beat out their competition. May the best man win.
I am...
The QB room is gonna be sick this year. Couple of raw project QBs with cannons for arms and athleticism, the scrappy Canadian looking to prove himself, and the wise veteran coming back home after a long trip to teach the kids a thing or two. Stinks that one of these guys (probably Rourke) will...
