Reminds me of Sharrif Floyd in the 2013 draft, in that I'd be thrilled to draft him with our 1st rd pick, but would not entertain drafting him in the 5-10 range where he has been slated by the draft cognoscenti.
I'm not too worried about him vs the run, assuming he can be a force vs the pass...
I don't see the appeal in Shelton as a 1st or 2nd round pick right now.
He doesn't look that athletic to me. Functional for effective NT play but I don't see Explosiveness with a capital E. Right off the bat I think I'm looking at a 2-down player. And for a guy who projects to two gap he...
Thanks man. I don't read the PatsFans forum, but I find myself coming back every year for the annual discussion of Grizzlies and HalfBacks, queens on chessboards, the leading edge of the NFL strategy, etc.
Valles hasn't looked natural to me going around the edge, when I was watching the UVA...
As for Max Valles - do you really prefer him to Harold, or is that after taking availability into account? I'm not sure what his NFL position is, reminds me of Buchanan in terms of being a lanky pursuit player. Those guys are heavily scheme dependent IMO
Smelter is a HUGE sleeper.
Big enough to win balls, quick enough to create separation, fast enough to get by people, shifty enough to get YAC, catches the ball clean. He reminds me of Boldin a bit. The sleeker version. If he were healthy/playing for a team that actually throws the ball he'd be...
Gotcha. I agree that the college level is catching up. It reminds me of the way the 3-4 OLB was impossible to find at the college level in the past, but now everyone plays their edge guys standing up because of the spread.
DeVonte Holloman was a full time spur in college. That's why I wanted...
Here's a top 32 (i.e. first round) worth of guys I just spitballed. Obviously there is much film to watch. But it does say plenty about how I feel about various prospects.
1. JaDaveon Clowney
2. Greg Robinson
3. Teddy Bridgewater
4. Aaron Donald
5. Khalil Mack
6. Sammy Watkins
7. Taylor...
He's got bloodlines. Brother is Melvin Bullitt. Dad was an Aggie. He's the black sheep - went to Texas Tech instead.
His tape is uneven but the upside is tangible. Tech put him in coverage on Jalen Saunders a few snaps. Obviously he got beat but that says a lot to me. He got used as something...
Looks way better than Markell Carter did in his highlights. His arms are also visibly long for his height.
He's no Ansah but a mid round pick? Perhaps.
Love his measurables, hate his tape. Weak punch and way underpowered. I don't see any potential for effective hand usage in him.
I save my irrational love for flawed prospects for only a few of them. Like this guy:
Dat explosion
:cool::cool::cool:
Mosley wouldn't be able to realize his potential with us. Look at how much better Hightower looked when Spikes wasn't on the field. Putting Mayo and Mosley on the field together would put him in coverage all the time, or blitzing all the time, and that's not how you get value out of him.
Agreed on Crichton. He seems like a solid 3rd rounder to me. Good football player but lacks "premium" attributes worth higher draft status.
I don't know who my "safety valve" is to be honest. This draft doesn't seem to line up well with our needs in the 20-40 range. Tuitt is a consideration...
