The Celtics waived forward Darius Miles today, trimming the roster to 15 players, the league maximum once the season begins.
Miles, the third pick in the 2000 draft out of high school, missed the last two seasons...
I wasn't a Doc guy until this year. I liked the way he handled the team in the regular season, but after the last two games, I can't believe I ever thought this guy might get Coach of the Year for the way he brought everyone together and cemented their respective roles.
Obviously, anything you pick for this thread is all but nitpicking, but I've been disappointed in Brandon Meriwether. As a No. 1 pick, he hasn't shown me anything except how to get burned in nickel and dime schemes.
I didn't think they'd be BAD, but there were a number of reasons I didn't see them as a real contender:
* I wasn't sure the 3 personalities would mesh.
* I couldn't imagine all 3 staying healthy for the whole year
* I didn't think the bench was deep enough.
Happily, I've been proven...
