OT: MNF not amused by Kimmel

I didn't see it, but from the sounds of it, it sounds mildly amusing and harmless. I mean, honestly, can people even make attempts at humor these days without someone getting pissed off...

As for Theisman, he was on point, Tony Kornheiser is ruining (has ruined) MNF. Jaws is a good addition, but Kornheiser is like the Jar Jar Binks of football color men. It's just terrible, how does anyone enjoy that clown.

I was watching it when he was on. I didn't have a problem with what he said although when he made the Theisman crack I remember thinking I can't believe he just said that. It went over like a fart in church with Tirico, Jaws and Kornheiser.

If Jar Jar Binks were born in Long Island during the late 1940s, he would be the Kornhole today. He is barely tolerable in half-hour segments, but is annoyingly unlistenable in 3-4 hour blocks. His fixation with TB, for things other than football, during the bungles game was embarrassing.

Screw those humorless douchbags at the 4-letter network. If they knew their audience, they would replace the Kornhole with Kimmel. Is it really that hard to find a columnist who not only knows football, but can also be both sharp-witted and sharp-tongued?

i quite enjoyed it, typical overreaction, they fired Joe, take responsibility for it.

I agree, but Jawz, Tirico and Kornheizer had no choice but to ignore the Thiesman comment. There is nothing that they could have said that would have been tasteful at that momment.

Haha, I thought it was hilarious (last year he asked Joe "how's the leg?). Even better was the Joey Harrington comment, "Joey Harrington might not be a good quarterback, but at least he's nice to his pets."

I never thought Kimmel was funny anyhow.

Ditto here. And Tony Kornheiser has ruined MNF imo.

MNF has been going down hill since trying to replace Frank Gifford and Dan Dierdorf. Al Michaels is still outstanding, though.

Kimmel is way out of place on MNF. He's used to a niche crowd that expects insult-based humor. You don't insult football players in front of a national audience, even in jest. Hell, I hardly ever see anyone point out specific player flaws unless they themselves are former players.

A couple years ago I remember some pre-game broadcast (CBS?) where one of the guys made some off-hand dig at Marino about never having won a SB. Marino was visibly pissed and stared him down, saying something like "How many Superbowls did you play in? How many playoff games did you play in?" before they cut to commercial. If that had been Kimmel, I'm sure Marino would have reached across the desk and punched him in the face.

Fans aren't allowed to criticize players unless they're former NFL superstars now? What kind of bizarro world is this.

Remember when Dennis Miller was on MNF? Viewers nearly revolted until they ended that experiement. Did you think it could get worse? Well it did. Korny Tonheiser stinks!

But ya know what? I am amused that MNF is not.

Hey, I'm a columnist! OK, not a sports columnist, but that's just details. I know enough football to yell at the tv screen. And sharp-tongued, hoo-boy, watch out! (As for sharp-witted, eh, that's overrated.) Hire me! Hire me!!!

Because there's no f'in way I'd be worse than Kornheiser.

Hey, you can go on national TV and take cheap shots at Marino if you want. Of course, he'd be allowed to chew you out and b!tch-slap you on national TV, too.

What don't you guys understand. Everyone is a legitimate subject of ridicule, except these talking heads of course. You can't ridicule them.

You have my vote, Patchick. If you can talk as well as you post, then you'll be an instant Emmy nominee.

Seriously, the discourse generally observed here would put most of the broadcast talking heads to shame.
