$$$$$$ deal ...

NFL commissioner to be honored in Jacksonville next Friday

Goodell, the NFL and the Jaguars partnered with Jacksonville University and the Jacksonville Sports Medicine Program last July to create Project 17, an initiative to put 17 full-time athletic trainers in all 17 Duval County public high schools by 2020. The cost for that program, which was estimated at $1.5 million by Duval County Schools Superintendent Nikolai Vitti, is being funded by grants from JU, the Jaguars and the NFL.
The Jaguars Foundation made a $50,000 donation toward the first-year funding of the program, which the NFL agreed to match. The city of Jacksonville also committed $53,000 to Project 17 at last year’s announcement.

Bob Sefcik, executive director of the Jacksonville Sports Medicine Program, said that having Goodell on hand to speak about the initiative highlights the importance of what the group is trying to do. It hopes to raise $670,000 to completely fund the program through 2020.

Its a purchased award, who cares.

Hmm...I wonder what the late, great Junior Seau's (RIP) family think about this, seeing as though they were shunned from speaking at his HOF induction...for....reasons we all know.
The OP made me roll my eyes at the situation.... adding this in just breaks my heart.

We think it's the most frustrating thing in the world that our 1st rounder was taken away. I can't imagine the thoughts that would go through my head if I was any member of his family.

Your father's dying wish is **** on by some f*ckface who gets an award for smelling like roses. Ugh.

Clearly a similar thing to Astroturfing, where some person creates a BS organization for the sole purpose of making some larger one appear positive. And pretty obvious who and what it's being done for.

That's what happens when you have a license to print money. Everything becomes corrupt and the majority of the efforts of the corrupt organization become focused on maintaining their gravy train even when it seems obvious to outsiders that it's gone well off the rails. I think in a few years we'll see the NFL and their leaders and flunkies to be not unlike FIFA with their scheming and greasy leadership and hired henchmen.

And if there's a more prestigious organization than the Jacksonville Sports Medicine Something or Other, I don't know what it is. </sarcasm>
