Might as well get used to it. We're going to keep hearing this from more and more pundits in the coming years. They're throwing darts at a board hoping to be right, considering Brady's age.

Well this will keep happening for however long he plays. It will happen even on this forum where the first time he has a subpar game or God forbid misses a play people will call for JImmy G to take over. The writers and bloggers should be grateful, it's an easy story to write several times per year.

Yep. I lived in South Florida toward the end of Marino's days with the Dolphins and I still remember Dolphins fans calling for him to be benched time and time again whenever he missed a read or threw an INT. Comes with the territory of being one of the oldest guys in the league. Brady, however, has shown no sign of falling off and is still very much at the top of his game. Stabilize the OL and reload at WR and the offense will be back to it's potent ways.

I guess Chris was bored and needed to make a quick buck...

The stats are what the stats are. The stats will be what the stats will be.

The fact is that until he started playing behind a cardboard-cutout O-line this past year, Tom Brady was on everybody's list as a potential League MVP well into the season.

None of us can know how Brady will play at 39. And we certainly don't know how he will play at 40 or 41 or 42.

Personally, I think he has at least one more season playing at the GOAT level and have said consistently for several years that I thought he would be at his best until he was 39. Just my opinion.

After that, we're in uncharted territory and will have to wait and see.

I didn't even need to open the article to know it was lambasting Chris Chase.

I remember Marino's last days. He completely lost his ability to slide around the pocket and his arm strength vanished so quickly.

Imo what makes Brady different is the way he takes care of himself and while I'm well aware that players have been working out for decades and decades I think Brady's approach is radically different and much smarter and much more effective than traditional methods have been. Brady's focus on core strength and pliability keeps his body and arm much more flexible, as a result he bends when others would break and his arm stays fresh. Brady doesn't have to throw a ball through a wall he just needs to maintain a velocity that will keep him viable as a pro QB. I think Brady's regimen is going to allow him to defy all the skeptics and he will stay at the top for the next 3-4 years. In the end I think the question will be whether to extend him to 45 but only time will tell if that it's an accurate take on it.

So much this.

Time and again, we have all seen that when the pundits publicly expect Brady to zig--like everyone else--he zags.

Why should this latest example be any different?

Kinda reminds me of one of my favorite traditions for NBA betting: taking the over on the Spurs' win total every preseason. Even as far back as 3-4 years ago, people would caution me that they were an older team that had to tail off eventually. My response was pretty much that one of these years they would be right, but for the 4-5 years before that I intended to make some good money off of them.

I'd much rather be right 5 times and then wrong once than be wrong every year until I'm eventually right. Same deal with Brady. Eventually, he won't be good anymore. But I see no value in trying to time it. He's already in historical anomaly territory, the kind of guy for whom you say "this historical trend is absolute, with the exception of these three guys". We don't know when he'll tail off, and we have no way of knowing. So let's just wait and see when it happens, and up until then just enjoy without reservation the fact that we're watching the GOAT at work in his near-prime.

If Brady ever starts to break down, he can always pop and shoot up some HGH, and have it delivered to Gisele's house in Brazil. It's not like it's that big of a deal, Manning did it. The league and the press can cover for him and say, "it doesn't affect the 'integrity' of the game because the team wasn't at an advantage. It's not like he was deflating balls or anything, he was just trying to get healthy!"

The Seabirds should be livid about this.
