I don't know about anyone else but I am fascinated by this afternoon's game between Pittsburgh and HGH MANNING. I think Kubiak is making a big mistake starting HGH and will be in a position halfway through the game of having to decide whether or not to replace HGH with Osweiler and possibly end one and done's career in ignomy. Imagine if you will the look on HGH's face if Osweiler takes over for him? I have, and I'm hoping to find a way to capture it and frame out to hang on my wall in case I need a good laugh. Now given how bad Pittss pass defense it is possible this doesn't come to fruition but imo HGH is toast and Kubiak is going to have a tough decision to make by halftime on this game.

*It's also possible that Archie Manning overrules Kubiak and the league instructs Kubiak to play HGH for the entire game.

Thoughts?

The weather will be in the high 30s, not exactly Peyton weather. But if Denver gets their running going peyton's performance won't matter.

Peyton * henceforth and evermore he shall be known by this moniker.

I heard Osweiler is battling some injuries of his own. That being said, I feel like Manning is the most non-mobile QB at this point and I have a feeling he is going to get sacked hard a few times and fumble at least once. I also expect animal control to arrive by halftime to arrest Manning for animal abuse because he is throwing ducks. Steelers defense may also get handcuffed for slapping those ducks in mid flight but peta will come to the rescue of those Steelers that catch them before they hit the ground.

In short, Broncos better run the ball and keep Manning out of the pocket.

I heard he will be taking snaps from under center, and that may be a big mistake from Kubiak unless they are going extremely run-heavy today.

I think Pitt wins today. Manning is washed up and Osweiler is damaged.

I think Pitt can move the ball just enough. Not having AB is huge but I have faith in Ben's ability to overstate his injuries and play well.

Then Pitt falls to the GOAT

I want all the fans to hold up head sets and mock Tomlin throughout the game.

Peyton would be a guaranteed loss against any other team. But this Pittsburgh team is a shell of the squad that made the playoffs.

Actually Supafly's point that Pittsburgh faced back up QB's in their last nine game good a long ways towards explaining their presence in the playoffs. They have a phenomenal passing attack when healthy but with Brown out and Roethlisberger unable to throw down field they are seriously hampered going into this game.

I think manning will play great if they put him in shotgun and let him run his offense , just because pitts is coming of a brutal game and is a tough spot on the road. If its kubiak's offense then who knows . I love all the analysts(NFLN just now) falling over themselves to praise 'the sherrif' ,how healthy is etc etc. .

At what temperature does al dante noodles usually freeze, and you end up choking on it?

A lot of wishful thinking on this thread--over the top. I think Peyton might be the perfect quarterback for this specific game against a truly beaten up Pittsburgh team. All he has to do is slightly more than just manage the game--and when that is the main demand, is there anyone better than Manning in carrying out this disciplined approach. I don't think so. Look for a low scoring Denver win, with Denver controlling the pace and the game.

So you don't believe Manning's arm is toast?

Its good enough and with rest and his defense he might have enough to beat the steelers and claim full glory of doing everything :).as long as they dont make him run from under center. Even last yr he had a leg/thigh injury which hampered his throwing according to manning apologists so he has to be better today I would think. Now the weather today has to be a factor. But tomlin doesnt infuse much confidence in me.If it was harbaugh( as much as I hate him) I wouldve given them a chance.

It's not wishful thinking on my part, I truly believe Manning's arm is toast and that's based on watching him throw the last year and a half. I could be wrong but that would be the first time that everhappened.

Should be an interesting game. I think the Broncos probably win, but you just can't count Big Ben out. Even though I can't stand him, I have seen him pull more than one rabbit out of a hat. It would be so sweet if the Steelers could pull it off and bring us the AFCCG. Go Steelers!!

Manning is done.

Total snow job by he media in general (the same media that couldn't wait to shovel dirt on Brady last year) - operating under the false assumptions that Manning is some sort of upgrade in a playoff scenario and that he didn't totally stink up the joint all early season burying his team under an avalanche of INT's and pick 6's.

A strong D - lets say Seattle or Carolina (or even New England if they can stay healthy) will make mince meat of him - for gods sakes - even the lowly Colts completely owned him in the playoffs last year with incredibly simplistic tactics - challenge everything intermediate and make Peyton land more than 1 in 20 of his rainbows.

The Steelers aren't a particularly good D - but you'd hope that they can match the performance level of a Colts postseason defence of recent years.

I have half imaginings of Manning actually getting the yank from this game and the Steelers winning 9-6.

It would be enough just for fans to wear them during the game, while maybe occasionally tapping them as if they are not working properly.

Yup, I do agree. EXCEPT with the Big One it goes both ways. He pulls games out and he sometimes comes up real short, esp against lesser opponents. The good news is this is not a lesser opponent, but why do I think that altho he will start this game, he may not finish it.
