Eagles at Patriots post-game thoughts thread

The INT for the TD Admendola was mugged.

No he wasn't. He was within 5 yards of the LOS, so contact is legal. And (I'll have to try to dig it up again) I've seen a screenshot which shows the ball is clearly still in Brady's hand when the contact is being made, so it's not DPI. That was a legal chuck.

(The screenshot also showed how tightly covered Amendola was. Terrible decision to try to force that in there.)

Full Definition of ARROGANCE
: an attitude of superiority manifested in an overbearing manner or in presumptuous claims or assumptions

So you are trying to tell us that the NE coaching staff thought this was a sure shot and thought that the Eagles wouldn't be able to deal with it? Because thats ********.. it was a calculated risk that didnt pay off but also didnt do much harm all in all.

In fact, if you believe the expected points by field position statistics tht are compiled by various stats websites then we had a change of around 1 EPA compared to if the Eagles would have started on the 20.

Now a pure onside kick that woulr have given the eagles the ball inside the NE 40 would have been arrogance but that's not what happened.

One random note while going through the film, Collins absolutely tipped the pass on the Butler DPI. Belichick would've won if he challenged.

perhaps collins shouldve taken a timeout and told BB to challenge ?

There was a shot of BB looking up to check the replay right after Collins gestured to the linesman that he tipped the ball, but a conclusive replay never came on before the Eagles snapped the ball.

Given that we only had 2 TOs left I assume BB didn't want to take the gamble without some kind of assurance..

A collection of uncalled false starts by the Eagles:

You are slowly moving into serious Patradamous troll territory.

We are missing not one specific player but over 70% of our total offensive production. Seriously, take away AJ Green, Eifert, Hill and Sanu or Marvin Jones from the Bengals and lets see how much offense they can produce. Or how about we take away Demaryius, Saunders, whatever TE and CJ Anderson from the Broncos. We can play the same game with the Steelers (Brown, Bryant, Bell*, Miller).

Any team will have trouble moving the ball when missing 3-4 starters on offense. It is not an excuse, it is reality. I understand people being disappointed but there is no reason to overreact to stupid, avoidable losses.

I agree with you, my problem is the whole 'oh well the Gatorade guy will be back next week then we can win'. We were up 14 without them so close it out without them. Are you expecting me to sit here and say NE will end up 10-6 because Julian Edelman missed 6 games really? Then he should be MVP over Brady if they go from 13-0 to CLE Browns without him.

It is simple and no I have no answer, it is too late in the year to get a fix like we did in SEPT last year, Brady is now forced to play Wilson and Rodgers style ball, it is that simple. Everyone including the announcers blamed Lafell because timed routes, but this isn't 04 sitting back throwing where Deion Branch will be on a timed route, this is broken plays, throwing with unplanned routes going possibly unplanted, Brady isn't fast enough or has the deep ball for it.

I have no answers but I think we need to trust our defense, win 14-10, run the ball, no trick plays, win dirty and trust your D because they are good, we can't grab the blockers or big time WRs to adjust so coaching wise we need to change who we are, no more tricks, no more Brady throwing in triple coverage off his back foot in a scramble. Injuries happen and they mean nothing to me, it all matters with the minds, they need to accept the injuries and stop trying to play the same ball game, because they are not capable of it. If we lose this way fine but at least we tried, yesterday we tried to play like the 07 Pats when we don't have that personnel anymore.

This was a game of mistakes and the Patriots made three whoppers that put 21 points on the board for the Eagles (and took 3-7 off the board for NE). That's the game.

It had nothing to do with disrespect or arrogance (please, please, please stop saying that unless you wish to align yourself with the deplorable Dan Shaughnessy or that verbose fossil, Bob Ryan).

It had nothing to do with momentum. If the Eagles had such overwhelming momentum, why did they go 3 and out (gaining one yard) on their first possession of the second half and why were the Patriots a half yard away from taking the lead with 11 minutes to go in Q3 before the roof fell in?

It was all about mistakes.

The only thing I would add is that the 80 yard drive that gave the Eagles the 35-14 lead was a killer. They needed a stop right there to have any realistic chance to win the game.

Anyway, here's Matt Chatham, who says it better than I could. It's a good read on how BB holds players accountable. Arrogance, momentum and disrespect don't mean much. All there is is preparation and execution. If you make a mistake, you'd better get ready for the next play.

They did make a stop. But the refs conveniently missed Collins tipping the ball and called Butler for PI which made it 1st and 10 from the NE 38 instead of 4th and 3 from the NE 49.

BB should have challenged it.

Agree. But even better, as hard as it is to even imagine this is remotely possible, would be for the zebras to actually make the correct damn call in the first place.

FWIW, BB said he didn't challenge it because while he believed it was tipped, he didn't have a good sense as to whether the PI contact happened before of after the tip. (The penalty would only get wiped out if it was after the tip).

If only that paragon of integrity that is the league office had not randomly demoted the lowest graded officiating crew to the Eagles- Pats game, then perhaps us fans may have borne witness to a miracle... Officials making more than one correct call.;)

Well..it was a 3rd down with 28-14 .He shouldve taken the chance with it. Its on him and maybe collins to be more persuasive , call a timeout.

Can one of the trainers find out where Odell buys his gloves? What the flying **** is up with all of these drops.

The pass too Brady was a hell of a play -- too bad they followed it up with an interception. ****ing rollercoaster of a game. Ugh!

just got it.
If Jimmy G is as good as we think he can be start him at qb in 2years and let brady be our possession receiver.
