Eagles at Patriots post-game thoughts thread

So if NE had kicked it off the most likely outcome was PHI ball on its own 20. Instead, it was PHI ball on its own 40.

You really believe that all of 20 yards was this amazing game destroying thing that undid NE? If that's really true, the team's in a lot worse shape than anyone thinks.

I hear ya, its not distance of 20 yards but how it was done. It was like BB was tryin to be cute and go for knock out in 2nd qtr when we had just went up 14 pts and had a flow on offense. Back'm up and make them go 80 yds. With a stop and how Brady was in control at that point had a chance to put up more points.

Don't get the coaching today which I thought was straight awful. Struggling O-line, but lets chuck it deep to an awful deep ball WR in LeFell. Just my 2-cents, but a cut down on the rotating players I think would help.
So if NE kicked it away and PHI had it on their own 20 and picked up 20 yards in two or three plays, would you say that picking up those yards were the turning point in the game?

Don't know why you would ask "What if" because that is not what happened and we can't go back and rewrite it.

with this result , gronkwatch is going to be most annoying media/fan storyline this week

Well I understand a lot of things happened today that don't normally, but given they play like **** last week it concerns me that they are going to continue the trend. Defense the last couple weeks don't look so hot, offense I can understand but Brady was able to move the ball when they went back to what they do best, uptempo and shorter passing, those long passes kill me.

I like this defense, Brock didn't do much, and neither did Bradford, we just need to tackle a bit better but Butler and them do good on coverage and break up passes.

Now the missed kicks, punts, the stupid throws, the drops, the lack of BLOCKING BLOCKING BLOCKING that is an issue, oh and the coaching hasn't been at that SB level either.

This team has been so good for so long that it seems that many on this forum have completely forgotten how to handle a loss. I suspect some of the younger ones may have never learned.

It's not the end of the world, just like KC was not the end of the world last year. They've had a lot of injuries, they've played some crappy football the past two weeks. There's a lot of games left to be played and they are still in a great position to get a bye or HFA. Edelman, Gronk and Hightower will all be back. Belichick and Brady will right the ship.

Sack up! We're onto Houston.

@Dutchmaster617 i agree somewhat, but the defense is either giving up big yards in first down in the running game or giving up way to many third downs. Maybe it just looks that way but that last third down at the end of the game was the worst. I also think the pass rush isn't what it as earlier in the year.

I have only one thought and this off topic and no way a reason for today's loss but still bugs me. Brady should stop posting stuff in Facebook account about opponents. It's bad karma and I hate it.

Just zero clue how people are putting the kickoff as the turning point. The punt block for a TD was

Difference between

14-7 at HT

and

14-14 at HT

All the kick did was give them 15-20 yards more than they would have had. You can't say if that was the difference between a TD and no TD.

Oh ************. He was posting that stuff last year and he won a SB.

I don't mind early in the season but it's getting late into the season. Need to stop the bleeding in houston badly.

I just found something in my dinner that could be a chicken toe or maybe an animal tooth.

Should I call an ambulance chasing lawyer with lots of television commercials and blame it on some person's facebook posts?

This reminds me of the loss against Miami late in the 2004 season. Crap happens sometimes. Just move on and focus on the next opponent.

?????????????????????????????????????????????
From what I remember, even if Lafell kept going on the route, there were 2 defenders in that area. Could be wrong if I rewatch the play but rather not relive that game.

Need a smile after the loss?

Here you go:

Man, I'm surprised that so many were satisfied with today's game. I honestly thought that it was terrible.

It's different from the 2012 sunday-night 49ers game, where they were a genuinely great team at the time.

This Eagles team has ranged from mediocre to awful this season, they were 4-7, and the Pats were at home... this isn't a moral victory, it was a trap game in my opinion.

Especially given how Philadelphia didn't even play well on offense. The bulk of their points were special teams blunders that the Patriots don't usually make - poor dropkick that gave them good field position, blocked punt, kick return touchdown, etc. And then the pick-six, which Brady forced.

Offensively, the Pats were good enough to blow them out - I mean, they scored 4 TD's after all. But the offense was just choking throughout the 2nd and 3rd quarters - Brady's pick, LaFell's poor route running (which led to Brady's 2nd pick), Blunt's regressive running performance, and our receivers dropping passes we needed them the most in the final drive. And our o-line being inconsistent; Brady had to act like Rogers sometimes.

Don't forget how we scored 0 in the first quarter, no one is without blame but I would give 20% to Brady.

What I don't get is how people say only one INT was his fault, he threw one into double/triple coverage and the other he threw right to PHI with no NE receiver in sight. Both of those were his fault, on the pick 6 he dropped like a coward with no attempt to even trip the guy who picked him.

I think the problem was LaFell completely stopped running and it let one of the defenders get a break on the ball. If LaFell keeps running maybe it is still interception or maybe it is incomplete but at least Maxwell isn't standing there waiting for it.

Why compare this to KC last year? We didn't show up in that game, we were up by 2 TDs tonight, be realistic and not a homer, I remember the 1-15 season in 91 so get off the high horse, we were the better team tonight and last Sunday.

What hurts the most is not capitalizing on that fumble... I felt like it happened for a reason. Brady was destined to lead us on a historic 21 point comeback within 7 minutes... It felt only logical given everything he's done in his career leading to this point... it was going to happen. It was supposed to happen...
